4 weeks - pain?

Hi,

I am actually 4 weeks post op from my 2nd surgery that was for the horrible adhesions, hyster was 10 weeks ago. I figured I would follow the checkpoints as if it was 4 weeks from hyster. Anyway, I seem to read women don't have energy, but what about pain? Am I the only one that only seems to be getting a good day here and there? Makes me worried about healing, so much has happened. Oh yeah, and I got another UTI. Have no clue how long, because I am in pain anyway, so put off testing until yesterday. Even walking is uncomfy.

I am so discouraged! I am supposed to be allowed to drive as of yesterday and I still can't even sit comfy half the time. Riding in a car I have to recline the seat.

Please, can somebody tell me if pain at this point is normal? (Due to constipation and bearing down, I am seem to really have gone backwards, but only did it once and that was Monday. Sorry, if tmi, but take it as a warning too!)

Oh, and 1 of my scars has got a lil hole in it now. Dr. said to watch for redness, swelling, or pus. This whole thing has been one big nightmare. I hope it will end soon! I hope to that it's normal to have pain at this point, then I can have hope and not fear.

Thanks,
Elizabeth

4 weeks - pain?

Elizabeth,

I'm so sorry you are having to deal with so much discomfort now. It sounds like you have been through a lot more than some, and it must be very frustrating not to feel better than you do at this point.

The only thing I can tell you from my own post-op experience (TAH/BSO with no post-op complications) is that at week 4 I still had a fair amount of discomfort, some bad days, and plenty of painful twinges. Weeks 5 and 6 have made a world of difference to me; I feel so much better now. Still low on energy but hardly any pains.

Hang in there and please do watch carefully for the signs of infection in the incision that your doctor told you to watch for.

I hope the rest of your recovery is smooth and you are feeling much better soon.

Barbara
