Sleep sides

I can't wait to at least sleep in the bed! The first 2 nights home, I slept in the bed and was having horrible back/sciatic pain and muscle spasms. Since then, I rented a Geri (hospital recliner I don't have a recliner) chair for 15.00 a week and have been sleeping fine and no spasms.

I miss sleeping next to my husband, but this is how it is right now. I may have to purchase a recliner after all!

Sleep sides

I'm scared to sleep on a side yet...like someone above said...feels like things will pop out! I guess I'll get there, but my tailbone wishes that would be sooner rather than later!

Sleep sides

I'm sleeping on my couch with the recliners since I got home. My bed is too high to get into yet and if I could, my hubby would like roll on top of my tummy during the night. I hate it and can't wait to be back in bed. I've had terrible lower back problems since night after surgery. Some nights it is just too hard to find a comfortable spot. The left side or practically sitting straight up are the only comfortable spots for me.

I get my staples out on Friday and SOOOOOOO cannot wait for that!!!!

Sleep sides

I can sleep on my right side but not my left. It seems to be because my stitches on the left have the skin kind of folding under so that if I lie on my left side, it twists and pinches it, whereas the right side is not like that. Very frustrating and causes me to wake up very stiff in the mornings because I do not have my full range of motion.

Sleep sides

I couldn't sleep on the right side either for a while. But, eventually it didn't bother me anymore! I also have a "boyfriend" pillow! It is one of the long body pillows, so comfy! The other thing that helped me was a triangle/cheese wedge pillow. I bought it 7 years ago when I had some bad sinus infections that kept me from sleeping flat. IT was like sleeping in the hospital bed because it keeps you slightly up. I stuck an extra pillow under my knees and it was great! Slept that way for the first week at least! Now just the body pillow! It will come!

Sleep sides

Hey Icewriter - I still have my appendix. AND I went to doctor today and completely forgot to ask her about this! DUH! But what zbkat said makes sense - I do have more bruising on the right, so I guess that's it. Sounds like I should be grateful I can sleep in the bed. I put one pillow under the covers over me so I can put my hands up there, then another on top of the covers to protect from little dog paws and and rolling hubby. Just regular bed pillows. I sleep pretty well this way, and the pillows mostly keep me from rolling over. I'm still on perocet too, so I'm sure that helps back pain.
I just had the bed to myself one morning and had already slept on my left side during a couch nap and was very comfortable, so thought what the heck, I'd try the other side. Not so comfortable. DH had this problem after his heart surgery 3 years ago and only in the last 6 months or so did he realize he could sleep on either side again. I just wondered if it was common for this type of surgery too. Apparently so!
As always, The Sisters to the rescue!
