Anyone kept their ovaries, but have symptoms of hormone failure?
I had a TAH on 10/20, kept both ovaries although they were full of cyst and my doc drilled both of them. He commented on how bad my hormone imbalance was prior to my surgery. Since my surgery, I have had night sweats, hot flashes, just in general I am much hotter than before, and terribel mood swings. I have not been released for intercourse yet, so I am not sure about that part. I also have had nausea and diarrhea. My doc started me on the vivelle dot 2 weeks ago and it seems to have helped alot. I am sleeping better and have not had a night sweat in a week. My mood is better and no more headaches. My question is if anyone else has had to do hormones even though you kept your ovaries and how long should I except to have to use them. 2 weeks ago I didn't care about side effects because anything would have been better than what I was going through, but now I am reading about side effects. I have another appointment with my doc next week. Any input is helpful! Thanks again for listening to me.

I had a BSO so I cant give you a first hand experience. But, I have read that the ovaries can fail or just not wake up after surgery. Also, I have read that they can be fine and still in shock after surgery.

Anyone kept their ovaries, but have symptoms of hormone failure?
I was going to write in about this today. I too had a TAH, Oct 24th and kept both ovaries. I have been plagued by hot flashes and wondering when they will stop(if they will stop??!!!).
I have my 6 week appointment Dec 8th and will ask what I can expect and if I have to take some kind of hormone to level things out.

Anyone kept their ovaries, but have symptoms of hormone failure?
I still have an ovary and was dealing with terrible night sweats and hot flashes. I have been put on 1 month of HRT and will see my dr again on the 6th on Jan. We will then relook at my hormone levels and needs. I have been told the ovary could take awhile to recoup from the surgery.

Anyone kept their ovaries, but have symptoms of hormone failure?
Hi Lisa, I also had surg on 10/20 and kept both ovaries, well, as far as I know anyhow. Though I do not have hot flashes. I really dont feel like they are working much. I have mild headaches, more anxious and a little 'down' feeling more then pre-op, and absolutely NO sex drive, even though it is still too soon physically. I didn't discuss it much at my 6 week Monday, but she put me on estrace vag cream to help my cuff healing and I go back in two weeks. I figure it takes a few months to level out.......but that is good that vivelle is working for you. I will keep that one in mind.

Anyone kept their ovaries, but have symptoms of hormone failure?
Had a TAH on Monday Dec 15th, have been experiencing mild headaches and irritability/"blues" since surgery. kept both ovaries but had cysts that were drained from both , don't know if this has anything to do with hormones or night. Also experiencing " fogginess". ?

Anyone kept their ovaries, but have symptoms of hormone failure?
I had a TVH 11days ago I had an appointment a couple of day ago and doc put me on evamist estrogen spray I told him I thought my ovaries were in shock because I have been having terrible hot flashes, he said that it happens sometimes and that they will kick back in it just takes time sometimes that I would take the evamist for a couple of months and things should be good by then. Good luck

Anyone kept their ovaries, but have symptoms of hormone failure?
I had a TAH on Oct 24th as I wrote before and I am happy to announce that my hot flashes have gone(hopefully!). At about 7 weeks I noticed/didn't notice them anymore! I asked my doctor and she said, sometimes they go away, sometimes they don't. So, there is hope out there for all those whose ovaries are a bit sleepy after surgery!
