Pain with sitting almost 8 weeks post op

I went back to work last week to a sit down job. Made it through but was very tired. This week I have started having pain in the perineum with sitting down and then with standing. I have tried sitting on a pillow, getting up as frequently as I can, and even changed my office chair with no relief. Anyone else have this problem after sitting for long periods of time?

Re: Pain with sitting almost 8 weeks post op

I also have had this problem, but starting on my ninth week of recoveryI started to see improvement. Gradually increasing my distance with slow walking seemed to help, but overdoing exercise always set me back a day or two. It may help if you sit with a slight recline to take the pressure off.

Take it slow.

Best wishes!

Re: Pain with sitting almost 8 weeks post op

I am 5 weeks post TAH and I sit at a desk all day also. I have the same problem as you. Sitting for long periods is uncomfortable on my lower back and tailbone area. Then when I start to stand up it hurts a little too. I try to get up and walk frequently in the office but when I get home I'm exhausted. I tried going back full time this week but I can't handle sitting for 8 hours, so my doc is writing up another note for 1/2 days. Can't wait to be able to sit again with no uncomfortable pain.

Re: Pain with sitting almost 8 weeks post op

I am trying to sit in a reclining position as much as possible, and still type comfortably. I am on the fence about calling my doctor as I don't want to be a whiner. However, I think I may need to go to 1/2 days for a week or two to get my body used to sitting in this chair. Thanks for the replies and good luck ladies.

I had that problem when I went back at 7 Wks. I purchased a donut from my local drugstore and it helped me. It takes the pressure off of the delicate areas. It worked for me and maybe it will for you. It was about $20

I'm so glad to see that I'm not alone...I returned to work yesterday, office job as well and can't tolerate my office chair and typing even with lots of breaks. Guess I'll be hunting a doughnut too!
