11 Weeks Post Op Still Trouble Sleeping

I am 11 weeks post op from TAH (kept ovaries). I was wondering how everyone else is doing with sleeping at night? I have no trouble going to sleep, but I wake back up in like two hours, sometimes I can go back to sleep right away, sometimes not. But the average is I wake up every two hours or so. Dreams, night sweats, oh what fun! And I wonder why I am so tired at times. And forget naps I tried during my home recovery and could not do it, and now I am back to work so no napping here even if I could. I look forward to seeing other replies.

Re: 11 Weeks Post Op Still Trouble Sleeping

I am sorry that I can not say I have had disturbed sleeping since surgery, only because I co-sleep with a 3yr old and I have not gotten more than a couple hours sleep in the past 5 years. BUT, as for the dreaming,,,,me too. I feel as though they are very vivid and seem real to the point I think they have happened until something triggers and then I realize it was a dream. Wonder why,,,perhaps the hormones? I too will like to see others experiences.

Re: 11 Weeks Post Op Still Trouble Sleeping

I'm 4 weeks post op and you can forget napping in the day, and I'm generally still awake at midnight... I'll finally pass out early in the morning, but I'll be awake again by 3 or 4. If I'm lucky, I'm back to sleep again for a couple of hours some time around 5 or 6. I've had extremely vivid dreams and nightmares from when my symptoms started several years ago. I read somewhere that they can be due to hormonal fluctuations so always put it down to that...

I find a herbal tea with valerian can help me drift off, or at least relax enough to encourage sleep... Maybe try lavender or sandalwood oil on your pillow?

If all else fails, I pick up a book and keep on reading until either the day starts again, or I drift off....
