How times have changed!
My mother had TAH 40 years ago and was not allowed out of bed for 7 days after surgery. On the 8th day she was allowed very short walks. She was going to be discharged from castle on 9th day but had slight spotting so they kept her another day just to make sure everything was okay. 10 DAYS IN THE CASTLE!!! Not that I would want to be in castle 10 days, would probably starve to death, but they sure do rush us in and out now!

How times have changed!
Hi Cindy,
It amazing to see the differences between now and then. It makes you wonder how good all this change is. Some certainly is for our good, but others are not. For one thing there is the cost and unfortunately the insurance companies have a say in how long we stay.
This puts a lot more on us when we go home. We really have to take care of ourselves and realize that just because we were sent home from the hospital doesn't mean we are ready to resume life. This the hard part for most of us.
I thought it was kind of cute, my dr, gave my dh the explicit responsibility of "keeping me down." He was very blunt about it and that he needed to make sure I did it- and he did a pretty good job of it too- bless his heart.
Thanks for sharing the thought.
's, Rita

How times have changed!
Its the insureance componys! I would love to see some changes.
It should be up to your Dr how many days you need not insureance componys.
I was out in 24 hours because my Dr gave me the choice but our insureance said i could only stay 2 days.(Oops! Please don't mention insurance company names. )
I am greatfull for having insureance but what a pain this all has been.
