Vaginal cuff tear repair

Had to have emergency surgery today for a vaginal cuff tear. Blood, blood everywhere. UGH
Anyone have any idea what the recovery time is for this? I have to call the doctors office tomorrow to get them to call me in an antibiotic so I can ask them then. Just curious if I will have to get my FMLA extended. Thanks

Sorry to hear this, bummer, my doc told me if a tear happened, would be the full recovery time again.

Re: Vaginal cuff tear repair

I too had emergency surgery to repair a tear in my cuff on Monday. Mine was repaired vaginally and my docs said 12 week pelvic rest. 4 week lifting and exercise restrictions...keep in mind I had been 6 week post op when tear occurred. Hope you heal well!

No husband. No sex. Just woke up Thursday in a pool of blood. I was 3 weeks post op.

Re: Vaginal cuff tear repair

This may sound stupid but what is a vaginal cuff tear? I had a Vaginal hysterectomy, I still have ovaries and cervix. Do I have a vaginal cuff? Sorry just never heard of this.

Re: Vaginal cuff tear repair

A vaginal cuff is where after everything is removed the Dr sews the top of your vagina up so nothing can fall out. Think of the end of a sock that is what it looks like. You only have it when you have both uterus and cervix removed because you only need it when nothing is there anymore.

Re: Vaginal cuff tear repair

Omg and a tear can happen even with no activity like lifting or bending? Any warning signs prior to severe bleeding? Now I'm freaked out

Re: Vaginal cuff tear repair

Some people thought I was too speedy in my recovery but my doc was aware, and approved, everything I had done. Don't stress out about it. Just be careful and enjoy the break. And if something does concern you call the doc. That's what they're there for.
