Re: Am I The Only One Mourning The Last Period?

I found out I was having a hysterectomy right after my period ended and it was scheduled for one week later, so I never really got to "say goodbye", silly as that sounds. I actually was really sad that I never realized my last period would, in fact, be my LAST period.

Re: Am I The Only One Mourning The Last Period?

You are way too hard on yourself. To have not seen it coming-who sees this coming? I am going to have a hyst soon and I always complained about my period coming ( for about 40 years!) and I am mourning the thought of it leaving my life too. It is a transition which is coming not by nature but by scalpel. Just allow and accept whatever you are feeling. It is normal. But life is still there afterwards. Ands you never know-maybe a better life. That is what I am hoping for. Good luck. Amila

Re: Am I The Only One Mourning The Last Period?

I had my last period without realizing it would be the last. I was scheduled to see the gynecologist one week, and he ended up sick and my appointment was rescheduled til the next week. The week I was to have my period. I didn't want to wait any longer to see him, so since I am on the pill, I just started another pack and skipped my period. Then, when I saw him again and a hyst was decided on, he said to keep taking my pills and not allow another period because he didn't want me to lose any blood before surgery. So, my period was supposed to be this week, and I'm skipping it again. It is strange to know I'll not have another period. If I'd have known the last was the LAST, I probably would have given it some kind of sendoff. Don't know what on earth it would have been, though. But it is a strange realization.
