I was at a distinct advantage to begin with. I didn't have pain from my multitude problems. The reason for my surgery was a path report from earlier surgery showing 'highly suspicious if not worse' cell changes. All my stress came in the 2 weeks between ops. Afterwards they didn't find malignancy , so the rapidly dividing cells from the first biopsy hadn't established themselves yet. So I am grateful to get away lightly. But now I have no ovaries, and I have diabetes plus metabolic syndrome. I will need to keep learning about hormones to stay well, having a 7x increase in getting heart disease now. Any research I find useful I would be happy to share - especially to eliminate pain and regain quality of life.

Re: Upcoming hysterectomy: The pain will go away......right?

If my doctor suspected adenomyosis, she never said. I suspected it but because I didn't think I could be diagnosed before surgery, I figured I'd find out when the pathology report came back, and it came back positive for adeno (I wasn't surprised because I'd already read up on it and had almost all the symptoms). My pain was worsening by the month, and I was so ready for the surgery.

I'm almost 3-weeks post-op and feel wonderful! I still have some recovery twinges, but none of the previous pain I had and best of all, no bleeding.

I hate to say "I hope you have adeno" because I wouldn't wish a painful condition on anyone, but at least if you do, a hysterectomy IS a cure for it. I didn't realize it beforehand, but I really did need the surgery.

Best of luck and I hope you have a smooth, uneventful recovery!

Re: Upcoming hysterectomy: The pain will go away......right?

First off, I can't sing the praises of da Vinci surgery enough. I've had a laparoscopic gallbladder removal and cesarean and both were far worse than the hysterectomy.

I had a lot of similar issues, although not to the same extent. I have had less pain during my surgical recovery than I did while I was on my period. I only bled a tiny bit. My blood pressure is stabilizing and staying stabilized. The anemia is gone and staying gone.

No one can say for sure that it's all going to be better, but the likelihood is pretty high. I wish you the best!
