Enlarged Uterus Suddenly Missing
For the past 8 years I have had an enlarged uterus (the size of being 3 months pregnant). The doctor said that it was caused by scar tissue from the c-section birth of my daughter. Of course with this abnormal size I had a pouch this I could never get rid of. Well, until now! 3 wks out and my swelling in started to go down. Pre-op I could feel to top of my uterus just above my belly button where my stomach would round out to my c-sec scar. Just the other day I noticed that I a definate waistline now and can lay three fingers flat between my belly button and the swelly belly.
With the recovery I have of course not been as active as I normal would be and I have been eating whenever and whatever I want. I can't explain it but I got on the scale today and I am 10 lbs lighter than my pre-op weight. I have no idea how that happened. I seriously doubt that my uterus weighed 10 lbs.
I was wondering has anyone else noticed that their uterus is suddenly missing?

Enlarged Uterus Suddenly Missing
Hello, hello, hello, and yes, it may have been my imagination, but as soon as I woke up from the surgery I felt a lightness where my uterus was! I didn't know that mine was three times the normal size until after the surgery, and I had cysts and scar tissue but I felt relieved and yes, I have noticed a bit of a waist, and my swelling has started to go down so I can feel my pelvic bones too. I am an overweight woman, and I plan on losing some of the weight while recouperating. But I am not missing my uterus, even tho I feel the relief!!!!!! I wondered how much my uterus weighed too, and am sure it doesnt weigh as much as would like to think, but I have noticed a waist, still got that big butt, but the waist is appearing. Good Luck to all and thanks for this site as I always say. It helped me through the hospital stay and being home recouping. Isn't it funny how hard it can be doing nothing!!!!

Enlarged Uterus Suddenly Missing
Great to hear that I'm not the only one feeling a lightness. I can not believe how good I feel now. I was telling my DH last night that now my worst days are still better than my best pre-op days. I have not felt this good in at least 8 years... well at least until I get up and do too much. LOL! I would love to keep in touch. We can all use the support. I am overweight, 70 lbs overweight. Now I feel impowered to lose the weight.
It is incredibly hard to do nothing. Yesterday I felt great and since I was the only one home, no clean clothes to wear I decided to do some laundry. Luckily the laundry was already by the washer (front load washer and dryer). No major lifting, just one piece at a time. It would not have been so bad if I had just kept to one or two loads for the day but instead I washed the six that were sitting there. Today I am taking it easy. I am more stiff than anything today.
Take care of yourself. Try not to overdo even though it is very easy to do on your good days.
TAH- PCOS, enlarged uterus, fibroid, cysts, adhesions, but able to keep both ovaries.

Enlarged Uterus Suddenly Missing
I am having the same situation!!! I was told my uterus was the size of 3 months pregnant then a year later he told me it was "significantly enlarged" from my last visit! I finally scheduled the procedure. My abdominal area was hard up past my belly button as you describe.
I am also overweight and would like to loose about 50-60lbs. I felt the "lightness" you describe by the time I returned home. I was sure I had lost weigh - people were even commenting on it, but I had only lost 2lbs 1 week post-op. I am now 3+ weeks post-op and have lost 12lbs! Wooo Hooo!!
How much does a uterus weigh? My doctor gave me the weight in grams from the pathology report. When I looked up the information it translated to less than 1lb and about 4 months pregnant. I should have been wearing maternity clothes! LOL
OK, here is my question. I feel like all 12lbs are gone from my stomach that has been enlarged for almost 4 years (also since a C-section). There is alot of loose skin, almost like someone that has had weight loss surgery. Will this tighten up at all? Should we be putting lotions or oils to help with skin elasticity?
I also feel empowered to loose my weight. I have not dieting yet, but I have also not been as hungry. Hmmm. Maybe the decreased hunger is from the temporary clear liquid fast in the hospital. I was not impressed with salt-free chicken broth!
I am happy you have had the same experience! Good job on the laundry! So far, DH has been taking care of all of that but it is starting to pile up.

I didn't get on a scale for a while after surgery. I was afraid to look. At my two week check up I hadn't really lost anything, then all of the sudden it started just melting off. Nine weeks post op and I have shed 18 pounds without even trying. I am a size 12 for the first time in over 10 years.
I don't have an explanation, but I'm hoping that it doesn't come back. It all seems to be in the stomach area too. The roll is almost gone.

Enlarged Uterus Suddenly Missing
I noticed the day after surgery, even with the swelling, that all of a sudden, my stomach below my belly buttom seemed flatter. That was very curious to me - I thought it might be the pain meds. Since coming home (I'm 5-1/2 weeks post-op), I've lost about 6 lbs; everyone is telling me how I look like I've lost so much weight. I can't really see it - although I have noticed that it seems like my waist has suddenly reappeared after years. I can't explain it, I just hope my body keeps changing for the better. I've passed the point where I would have had my period, and I was ecstatic that I don't have to deal with that pain and discomfort anymore. If I can lose weight and look great from this surgery - that's a gift from God!

I've got major "jiggly belly" happening where when I laugh everything seriously jiggles like crazy! It's freaky --- too much fat/skin and not enough inside I guess
I lost 12 lbs with surgery but other than my face a bit, I can't really tell.

For all the details request a copy of the pathology report. The weight of your uterus will be included on this along with other notes. I was surprised to find that mine didn't weigh very much, but I could sure feel a difference immediately after surgery. However eventhough my belly is flatter while lying down, I evidently still have some swelling. I'm rather thick now standing up.
Keep in mind that the scales will reflect additional fluids retained due to IV and little or no activity. I actually weighed 10 lbs. more afterward. Didn't drop off until a couple of days ago.

My pouch is more hanging skin with a little fat inside yet it is still twice the size it was pre-op. My doctor was actually surprized that I had less fat then she thought. I just that is a good thing. Before the surgery I started to use Avon's Lift and Tuck cream. It really does tighten up the skin. I don't know if it will get a flat stomach and cure my flab but it's worth a try. I guess worse case I used the cream to massage my aching stomach... it does make it feel better.

I've been trying to figure out if I am really thinner. I weigh the same as before my surgery, but I am definitely flatter and seem to be missing 3 inches? I'm happy but a little amazed that removing my uterus & right ovary caused this shrinkage.
