Do STITCHES come out on there own?

Hey Everyone,

My surgeon told me on my 2 week check up he wanted me to start SCRUBBING my incisions. I have the 6 little incisions. He had me take my bandages off 2 days after surgery. I only let water and soap run over the incisions, but no washing/rubbing/scrubbing.... Yesterday one scab came off and in my opinion it SEEMS AS THOUGH MAKING THE SCABS COME OFF WOULD MAKE FOR MORE SCABBING OVER AND MORE SCARRING. Isn't it the LONGER YOU LEAVE THE SCABS ON THE LESS SCARRING......????? I'm COMPLETELY FRUSTATING AT ALL THE DIFFERENT INSTRUCTIONS WE ALL GET BECAUSE WE ALL HAVE DIFFERENT DOCTORS!!!! WHAT IS THE RIGHT..........THING TO DO......??????????????????????????

Also, IS IT TRUE these stitches OUTSIDE will come out all on their own and DO I NEED TO SCRUB THEM??????? It REALLY GROSSES ME OUT and I use a wash cloth and just rub over them like 10 times and SING A SONG IN MY HEAD WHILE I'M DOING IT, BECAUSE IT'S GROSS!!!!! I have ONE INCISION area that has been BRUISED the whole time and I had surgery the 18th of April. It's been 2 weeks and 4 days now and I STILL have a bruise. The whole surrounding area is TENDER and I'm having PAINS today with coughing, getting up and breathing sometimes. HAVE NO.......IDEA what's going on!!!!!!!!

PLEASE...................WRITE ME AND SHARE WHAT YOU KNOW I'M SO LOST WITH WHAT'S RIGHT!!!!!!

THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH IN ADVANCE.

Love and Blessings to you ALL......... Sharon

Are you sure your dr used stitches? Sounds like he may have used a surgical glue if he's asking you to scrub it off.

I had regular stitches for my incisions. They were removed a week later, and I just let the scabs fall off when they were ready.

Hi Sharon. I am sorry that you are so confused and frustrated. I'm not sure about your doctor's instructions. Can you call your medical doctor or your gyn's nurse? Maybe they can explain it to you better. Good luck!

Do STITCHES come out on there own?

I had glue instead of stitches, and doctor just said soap and water, cant imagine SCRUBBING my incision that area is so tender

I have had many other surgeries including lap. and I never scrubbed anything....I know that with the glue this sticky stuff forms over the incision, but I took it off with a soft wet cotton.....I would really call a nurse or a diff doctor or something.

I'm so sorry you are frustrated. I had staples that were taken out after a day and a half......ouch! I am now almost three weeks out and my incsions look okay...but last week the scabs came of when I was washing them.....I haven't heard of the DR asking you to scrub stitches.....but I mean if there is some funky stuff around them I can see cleaning the gently. I would call your doctor to clear up any confusion, and clarify the sistuation. My thoughts and prayers are with you......Best of luck to you.
