Sitting for long periods of time

Can anyone give me some advice please, I am 10 days post op and need to know if I can do any harm by sitting for long periods of time.
I am working away all day on my computer and feel fine but am wondering if sitting squashes everything inside???? Sounds silly but don't want a prolapse. Can anyone answer this question?

Sitting for long periods of time

with anything it's not good to sit for long periods of time, and when your on a computer it's good OH&S to get up and walk around for at least 10 minutes every 30 minutes.

your walking doesnt have to be for a great distance, a few laps of the room at a slow stroll is good enough.

I can't imagine you'll squish anything or cause a prolapse, but it is easier on your back and better for your health to get up every hour and walk around. This is always true, not just after surgery!

Sitting for long periods of time

Thanks ladies, I am getting up and walking to the kitchen for a coffee etc. Just was worrying what effects I might have from sitting all day and not lying down.

With me, I didn't lay down at all, sat my butt down in the Lazy-boy.
I hope your having a good relax and enjoying all the "wonderful" things on Aussie Day time TV.

It is OK to sit...but not for a long period, I would get up and move ecery 15-20 minutes, It's good for you overall, for bowel movements, for stretches of abdominal area and circulation in general)
