When can I have a glass of wine?

8 days post-op TAH...looking forward to short date night with hubby (get me out of this house!). I'm off the percoset and would love to have a glass or two of vino while out to a nice light dinner. What do you think, girls?

When can I have a glass of wine?

Hi Rebecca,

I think as long as you are off the pain meds, including the heavy duty motrin, that wine is ok. I'm looking forward to the same in a week or so. I am still taking the motrin on and off.

Be careful with wine, especially if you are anemic after surgery. I'd stop at one to start! :-)

Have a wonderful night!

Best,

When can I have a glass of wine?

I had some wine as soon as I was off the prescription pain meds. I was careful not to drink more than one small glass (4 oz.) because I was still taking Tylenol and occasional ibuprofen and those can be very harmful to your liver if you drink more than 1 drink per day. Best wishes and enjoy your night out!

When can I have a glass of wine?

Hi Rebecca!

Did you receive any written post-op instructions upon your discharge from the hospital, like I did? If so, there should be an indication if alcoholic beverages are prohibited during your recovery. Take a look and see.

Mine didn't say anything about it, so after I stopped the narcotic pain meds I concluded that "doing what I did before" was okay.

I hope you continue to have a good recovery!

Many s and Best Wishes,

When can I have a glass of wine?

Me and DH are having a date night also Saturday. I was wondering the same question but I just want a good cold beer. I could not take too many Vicodin b/c I can't stand the way they make me feel. Sometimes I would take them at night to get some sleep. Can't wait for our date!!!

When can I have a glass of wine?

I had a small glass of wine when I felt like having one, which was about 10 days post op. Interestingly, I normally drink beer but had a sip of a beer and really did not like the taste - hope this does not remain permanant!
I was still taking a night time diclofenic at the time and did not seem to have any problems
