Swelly Belly- is it painful?

I have noticed as I get more active, I do have a more puffy tummy at night, but mainly I notice that I am very uncomfortable, such that I need to be in a reclining position.

When ya'll talk about your swelly belly are you feeling some pain or just puffy?

Re: Swelly Belly- is it painful?

My belly gets swelly when I'm up for too long - but usually no pain at all. I just started back at work (it'll be 4 weeks since my LSH this Thurs) and just being at my desk instead of lying down is too much. The last 3 weeks at home, I only noticed it at the end of the day, and usually only when I was active.

Has anybody found a remedy? (I know it can last months, but my clothes don't fit!)

Re: Swelly Belly- is it painful?

I have been working part time and too much time sitting up at my desk is painful as is driving, though if I can recline and work from that position, I am pretty good

Re: Swelly Belly- is it painful?

Yes, but I'm afraid when I go back to work in 2 weeks it won't be very practical. The only thing that I've found that works is ice. Here is my idea that I may try. I have no idea if it will work or not, and I know it will draw attention to myself but I think comfort is more important than my dignity! I generally have always taken a extra water bottle and put in the freezer at work so that I will have cold water for my run after work. I'm thinking of taking it out at lunchtime and using it on my swelly belly while I eat my lunch.

Re: Swelly Belly- is it painful?

While don't you just get one of the re-usable gel ice packs. I used that for my belly. It was about 8 x 12 and it was a soft gel pack so it formed around my belly. If I tucked it under my shirt no one even knew I was icing my belly. When done I put it back in freeze until wanted it again.

I am almost 6 weeks. My swelly belly is puffy and a little uncomfortable, but generally not painful.

Re: Swelly Belly- is it painful?

I am 3 weeks out from a TAH and my swelly belly is pretty much just swelly...not too much pain. Was tickled to have found that we are all dealing with it...before I found Hyster Systers I was like...ewwwww, don't believe anyone told me about this! I still have 3 weeks before going back to work and did just order the abdominal binder...am hoping that will hold me up and together since my job is up and on my feet!

Re: Swelly Belly- is it painful?

i'm 4.5 months out and although my swelly belly isn't painful, the fact that its swollen and so puffy, it ends up hurting my low back... clothes fit in the morning and don't fit by afternoon/evening... i'm a stay at home mom, so can't even imagine trying to go to a job every day...
