painful sex 2 months postop

My hysterectomy was about 2 months ago and everything is all healed. Sex is great, just like it was before, the only problem is with any deep penetration, it is very painful. Has anyone else experienced this and will it eventually go away? Deep penetration is something my husband and I have both very much enjoyed and I hope I don't have to give it up!!

Re: painful sex 2 months postop

I like to hear the answer on this one too, I am not even close to where you are, still healing and recovering. But at least I will know what to expect. I know my sex drive before my surgery was so dead, but for some reason I think it will be the opposite once I am healed.

Re: painful sex 2 months postop

I'm sort of in the same boat. I'm almost 6 weeks post-op and Dr. tells me we'll have to wait for 2 more weeks before having any "relations". To be honest, though, the very thought scares me! I know my dear hubs will be very gentle, but what if it's so painful that I'm afraid to have sex at all?! I'll be interested in seeing any other comments that are posted.

Re: painful sex 2 months postop

the area where your cervix was removed might not be healed all the way. if theres pain, thats a sign that something is going on. you might want to let your dr check your vaginal cuff to see if its healed 100%.

Cinda....

It may be that things aren't healed yet. You may need to take it slower and gentler for awhile.

I have had internal pain and if your body starts to expect pain you can end up with guarding (muscles tensing) and triggering (muscle knots). I've had both and had to have internal massage and utilize a dilator to recondition the muscles.

Take it easy, take it slow give yourself time to heal up.

Re: painful sex 2 months postop

Take it very slow. If you get hurt once then you anticipate it the next time and everything unravels. It took more than a year for me to feel confident enough after I was hurt the first time, and I waited a full three months before I had sex the first time. Now (18 months later) and taking it very slowly, it is wow again !

Re: painful sex 2 months postop

Thanks for the advice. My doctor has already told me that my vaginal cuff was "all healed", but maybe it will just take more time.
