Horrible pain in left vaginal wall 4 weeks post-op

Hi!

I had a TVH and anterior and posterior prolapse repair 4 weeks ago. I was feeling pretty good at 2 weeks post-op but got a really bad exterior yeast infection. Gyn put me on several meds for it, and it seems to be going away quite well. However I started getting horrible pain in my left vaginal wall, just inside. I have looked and it looks fine. Went to see my gyn last week and he said I am healing fine and sent me on my way. It just keeps getting worse though. Is this normal?
I am a stay at mom, 25 y/o, with 4 kids under 6. Could it just be that it's hard for me to "take it easy" and healing will be slow? I know my gyn had to do a lot of repair down there. All four of my babies were delivered vaginal, all between 9 and 10 pounds. I just have reservations about my gyn. He does not believe in anti depressants for postpartum depression, he does not believe in pain medication. ( He gave me 10 tylenol #3's for post-op pain).

The lifting restrictions don't work very well since my 7 month old weighs 20 pounds already. I just debating if I should get a second opinion or give it more time. I would love to hear your stories and how long it took you to stop hurting. Thank you in advance!

Joy

Joy,

Maybe it some healing pain relating to having a vaginal hysterectomy. I have not had any vaginal pain but I had an abdominal hysterectomy. Sorry this probably hasnt helped much but I hope you do find answers soon.

Re: Horrible pain in left vaginal wall 4 weeks post-op

Joyfull,
I believe youa re probably right about the not being able to take it easy and that makes for a longer recovery! Most of all the pain I have had has been on the left side. Doc says thats because usually uterine area pain presents itself on the left side. So its possible that you are still healing and because youa re having to pick up your 20lbs daughter you are causing pressure in that area! So I say relax and try with everything you can not to lift or do too much...have your DH help as much as possible, or friends and/or family. As far as your doc if you are not comfortable with him I highly recommend you find a new one! I had a terrible doc who basically butchered me and treated me as though I was unimportant! I found my current GYN and he is amazing! I tell you having a good relationship with your GYN is like having a good relationship with a friend...it is necc. and makes you feel better and safer! I dont know where you live (if it was in the Dayton area of Ohio, I could recommend) but best way to find a doc is word of mouth! Finding one that others have already found and like make searching much easier! Good luck and I hope you find the answers you are looking for!
