When do you call doc? When do you call doc?

When do you call doc?

I'm almost 8 weeks out from a TAH, and I am a super-slow healer. Last night I had such severe vaginal pain that it took Darvocet and Ibuprofen to even touch the pain. I always have lots of vag. pain and 1 1/2 weeks ago the doc said to let him know if I'm still hurting at 10 weeks (about 2 1/2 weeks more). I hurt all the time, whether it's a little or a lot. I have to take pillows to places in public to sit on, and it sometimes even hurts when I lay on my side or back. I have a hard time sitting in the car and sure can't drive yet. I'm feeling very frustrated.

He said to wait to call, but this seems silly. Surely this can't be right? Help!

When do you call doc?

(((movingforward)))
I'm so sorry to hear you hurt like this. Did your dr give you a reasonable explanation for this pain? I can't imagine what would cause you to still have this much pain at this many weeks into your recovery.
I'm not a dr and can't say what is going on but for myself I would be calling the dr and asking questions and trying to get an understanding of what could possibly be hurting so badly. The pain you are describing is intense if it took that much pain medicine to touch it. I think your dr needs to know that. It doesn't sound like normal healing aches and pains to me. Did you have any kind of repairs done with your TAH? I'm just trying to figure out what could hurt. What has your dr said could be causing this?
I hope you will be very proactive with your care. Let your dr know you are very concerned and in need of some reassurance and understanding. Please let us know what you find out.

When do you call doc?

I called today and they said come in, or don't come in. Now I have to find a ride for their office which is an hour away. There is NO explanation for why I'm starting to hurt more off and on. Also now running a very low-grade fever. I hate this. If I ask dh for a ride he's going to spit nails, I think. I don't like being so dependent, but tried to drive and got out of reverse and into first gear before my belly felt all twisted up (not supposed to drive yet anyway).

I didn't have any repairs done, but have a bleeding disorder that's likely trying to bleed through whatever is trying to heal up. I'm nowhere near the 8-week level I'm supposed to be at and the surgeon thinks this is why.

Thanks for the support. I guess I have to deal with logistics now...how to get there and when. I hope doc is supportive if I can make it up there.

When do you call doc?

What has dr said about the healing of your cuff? If your dr is not giving you answers, change drs. You need to be seen.

When do you call doc?

Hi Julia,
I'm so sorry you are feeling poorly. If you are concerned about DH spitting nails, try contacting the hospital to see if they have shuttles or are associated with shuttle services that might be able to help get you there and back. It is not necessarily as efficient as they try to conserve on fuel and costs, etc... but they are often a less expensive alternative to taking a taxi. They might also help your independence with light errands and other appointments.

When all is said and done, though, it might be an emotional moment for you to present DH with a choice in the matter, but I think he will step up to the task and drive you. (Otherwise tell him from me that I will send him all my former "supplies" to his boss at work with some naughty message care of him! Ya know a person can get pretty creative when left alone to think about stuff.)

I know your frustration is high and solutions are elusive, but you are getting a little bit better every day!
Big hugs!
Barb
