Weightloss. weight gain by body type???

Hi ladies,

I have seen alot of posts about weight gain and weight loss and was wondering if that has to do with body type of the person itself?? Such as a Pear, or apple, or maybe if it is related to HRT or keeping ovaries or not.

I am a pear shape myself, and gain more in the hips, thighs and butt, were as my waist stays slim. That is now of course, but don't know if that will change after surgery. I hope not, as I can afford to lose some weight. I only have one ovary left and was wondering if that will function afterwards.

So question is. Does anyone have 1 ovary remaining and have lost weight, and are you a pear shape like me. I guess I am curious.....

Thanks and Happy New Year to you all!!

Liz

Weightloss, weight gain by body type

HI

I don't really know if the weight gain/loss has anything to do with body type or not. I do know that in my situation I have both of my ovaries and one minute I have gained weight and the next I have lost a few. My mother had a total hysterectomy years ago and is on hormones. I would say that she is a pear shape and she has had many weight control issues. She though does not have either ovaries. I think that it is all different for each person reguardless of prior to surgery weight and or body type.

Weightloss. weight gain by body type???

Liz,
Best wishes to you.

Just as we are all different in our reasons for surgery, how our recovery goes etc. we are all different as to weight after surgery. I basically stayed the same. I have seen others who have lost weight, some gain and some stay the same. They have been all shapes and organs taken or retained. It is just a roll of the dice as to what you will do.

Hugs,
Pam

Weightloss. weight gain by body type???

Hi Liz

I too gain weight on my hips and butt, but I don't know if you'd call me pear shaped. I'm 6'0" and currently weigh 130 lbs. I weighed that before my surgery and I weigh that now, 3 + months later. I might have gained 1 or 2 lbs. over Christmas but I ate like a maniac!! I too have one ovary left. It hasn't changed anything I don't think - my appetite is still the same as before, and now my activity level is about the same too. But like Pam said, I think it's a roll of the dice, some are affected, some aren't.
You're not pear shaped - you have the half an hour glass figure!! That's how I look at it anyway!
