new suggestion for belly band

I wasn't able to get the swelly-belly band that I hear everyone talking about so much. So I created kind-of a homemade version. I had one of those exercise bands (made of stretchy material and fastens with velcro). So I've started wearing that and also putting a ice pack (one of the reusable ones you can buy from wal-mart) under it. This has been very helpful. Just thought others might like the suggestions.

Hope you keep healing well.

new suggestion for belly band

Hello,
The hospital gave me a band and it feels good to wear it but is doing nothing to help the swelling. I was also told to use heat not ice. Is the ice taking the swelling down?

I've always had a flat stomach and now it is swollen and saggy. Will this ever go away?? It is depressing.

Iwas 2 weeks TAH yesterday.

new suggestion for belly band

Nothing is really making my swelling go away (yet). I am 3+ weeks. From other posts I have read, it could take a while for the swelling to go down. The most important factor seems to be not doing too much too soon.
I like to use a heating pad at night and the ice pack with the band. My DR told me that either one was fine, just a matter of what feels best.
Hang in there, it will get better. (I actually got a pair of my jeans on the other day, lol)

new suggestion for belly band

The swelling and sagging does go away --- right after surgery I felt quite puffy - though I didn't often suffer from a lot of swelly belly ---- and while I don't remember exactly when it started, I can tell you that now my "belly" is smaller than it has been in YEARS.

hang in there, these are early days yet.
