Still having pain after 6 months post-op
I had a hysterectomy almost 6 months ago. I am still having a lot of pain internally. My cervix and uterus were removed due to polyps and endometriosis. The doctor did not remove my ovaries. I am having a lot of pressure internally and am in pain every day. It still hurts to have intercourse. Is anyone else experiencing the same symptoms?

I Feel Your Pain
I am almost at the 6 month mark. I got online tonight for the same question you have. I still have some pain after I stand for long periods of time. It is the same pain that I had following the surgery whenever I had overdone things. Also, the area above my bikini incision is sometimes sensitive. It has been numb since the surgery, so maybe the nerves are beginning to wake up. My expectations of recovery were much higher than the reality of it. I am still not back to a normal exercise routine. I'm afraid of making the pain worse. I am also beginning to notice some weight gain. I hope that it is due to the reduction in exercise and not a permanent gain. When are things suppose to be normal again?

Still having pain after 6 months post-op
Hi had my op about the same time as you did. I still get sharp pain where the ovaries were, and it does feel like i have over done it.
Between the bikini incision and my belly button is very sensitive, feels like when your hand goes to sleep and the tingly feeling you get when you touch it. Can't stand it beening touched there.Sex is also still pain full, that is the reason i had the op in the first place and it is better but not all the way better. Still getting pain deep inside with sex : (
Not to talk about the lack of sex drive,The doc has put me on testosterone cream as well as livial. By the time i have rubbed the cream in i am so pee off as it takes 10 mins very morning. I did think every thing would be back to normal by now but i think i have a long way to go yet before i am my old happy self again or maybe the family better learn to live with the new not so happy me. I did like the old me better

Still having pain after 6 months post-op
I hear ya'......I sometimes wish the "old me" was still here. I feel like I've traded monthly debilitating pain for daily aches and swelling, not to mention the exhaustion. I thought I was doing better but the holidays have just about done me in. I've been walking but not exercising heavily--my hubby thinks I need to start more "real" exercise to help.
I've had some pains lately too that I hadn't had before. Not sure if it's from just too much on my feet/ lifting, etc. or what. I've been off work and have a few more days to go. If it doesn't get better after a few more days of rest, I guess I'll call the dr. I'm afraid they will just think I'm being wimpy...sigh...such fun....

Still having pain after 6 months post-op
I went to the doctors last week and he is telling me the pain and pressure is due to endometriosis. I thought the surgery cured it...but I guess I was wrong. I actually felt better prior to the surgery than I do now. The only good thing is not having any periods. He put me on Lupron Depot which is a monthly injection that you can only be on for 6 months. We will see if this helps the pain. I will let you know. I had mild headaches and an upset stomach for the 1st few days. I'm feeling a little better now. He warned me that I may get hot flashes...but none yet. He advised me to take estroven (over the counter estrogen) if I do get them. I will let you know if this helps with the pain. He said it was too soon to have surgery again.

I am sorry that you are still having pain and that you were unaware that a hyst does not cure endo.
We have many Endometriosis Resources you might want to read through so you can learn all you can about endo.
By keeping your ovaries, as I did, your ovaries still produce estrogen, which you need for you overall health, but the estrogen also feeds any remaining endo.
Endo was left on my bowel walls so I have pain from time to time. It can last for months, or come and go during the month. Becasue I also have IBS, my pelvic region can feel very miserable! UGH! Because of my migraines, I have not been able to try Lupron or other options to see if anything would help.
Do you have an endometriosis specialist? An endo specialist should know the latest treatment options for endo.
I hope Lupron offers you some relief. Do keep us posted and in there!

Still having pain after 6 months post-op
I wish there was something I could say to help y'all through this. I am 7 months post op and I feel great. I had severe endo. The only issue I have had since the surgery is constipation. I have had to go on stool softners and next week I am having a colonoscopy done.
My GYN burned a lot of my endo out when he did my surgery. I have started back on my diet and exercise (yes I gain a lot of weigh after the surgery - used it as an excuse). I now have a goal....I live in FL and bike week is 62 days away. I want to ride into Daytona on the back of the bike with hubby in new jeans (2 sizes smaller) and a bikini top (couldn't wear a bikini at all last year). Hubby has told me if I hit my goal by Valentine's Day he will get me a pair of leather chaps to wear instead.
Surgery has been the best thing inmy life. Increased sex drive, decreased pain. I can only hope that y'all can find something to help you.
Looper - please be careful with taking the Lupron. If you have a bad reaction this month...by all means - do not get a second dose. I reacted bad and got suicidal after I stopped taking it (and I only took one dose)! If you have to...be a pest to your doctor's office.

Still having pain after 6 months post-op
I still get pain and my hyst was on 6-2-'06. I had an extremely slow and painful recovery due to a bleeding disorder that was diagnosed shortly before surgery.
I still have pain off and on. I still have plenty of days when I feel I NEED to nap a lot. It has all been worth it, though. I didn't realize before how sick I was from the bleeding disorder. It's under control now and I feel better than I have in my life. I'm feeling like I can handle the pain that keeps coming back considering how much healthier I am on the whole.
I hope you all start to feel better. I'm so thankful for this site - it has helped me get through a lot of the difficult after-effects of surgery.

Still having pain after 6 months post-op
Friend, I am almost 6 months post op AND I feel great most days. I had a total hysterectomy, including uterus, cervis, ovaries. Ocassionally, I get an achy feeling beneath my incision, which I imagine are stretched adhesions. I got achy after dancing a lot in November. My pubic area was numb for months, but is almost back to normal. Sex was slightly touchy at first, because I was scared - but now my sex life is better than before.
I started walking very short distances immediately, and I now walk at least 5x a week. I started the floor exercises suggetsted on this website, when I was six weeds post op. Also, I started lifting small hand held weights 5x a week. Although, my energy is pretty good, I have gotten sick a lot since the surgery - I wonder if there is a connection. Anyway, take care and be sure to contact your gyn about the pain. SuzyQ
