Re: Pre Diet

I go in for LAVH on the 20th. Here's what in doing: I'm not eating a lot of meat, or things that would be hard to digest/pass, and I'm doing a lot of fiber (in my morning cereal). I am increasing my water intake to as much as I can stand during the day, and tapering off at night so I can sleep through the night. I'm eating 2 8oz containers of yogurt daily to keep my bowel health tip-top, and to counter-act any potential yeast infections from possible anti-biotics. I also am trying to get more soft fruits and vegetables: mango, avacado, steamed leafy greens. Stay away from things that cause gas or intestinal discomfort. Though I am not required to do a bowel prep, I am eating like I will have one because with LAVH, there is always that risk I will have to be opened up if I have too much scar tissue from previous c-section that may cause complication. Eat what makes you feel well, and you know will be mild and easy to digest.

Good luck!

Re: Pre Diet

I had my hysterectomy in December. I ate as clean as possible including lean protiens fruits and veggies. I cut the junk food and fat. You are fueling your body now so that it can recover easier and better later. I also drank lots of water at least 3 liters per day. In addition to fueling your body for recovery you will develop good snacking habits for when you are home resting. This helped me a lot. My recovery was overall pretty smooth.
