BOwel Prep

Hey, Is it normal for some DRs not wanting their patients to do bowel prep for LAVH? I dont have to do this. Also is everyone stapled after or does it vary? Thanks

I did not have to have a bowel prep before my LAVH. From the sounds of it, we should feel blessed! And the staples/stitches can vary. I had dissolving stitches for all my incisions.

Hey Summerdaze, All I had to do was a dulcolax suppository the night before, and an enema the morning of my surgery. I was really happy that I didn't have to drink that yucky stuff. Whew! Emily PS I wish you the very best with your surgery coming up.

i had a tah..i didnt have to have any bowel prep of any kind,and i had 20 staples closing my incision....good luck on your surgery,..sonie

I was thinking that the bowel prep is a good idea. The less you have in your colon before surgery, the less will need to move out after. Sounds gross, huh? I remember my C section, it hurt to move my bowels the first few days. A lot depends on the type of surgery. It's best to follow your doctor's advice, but don't be afraid to ask questions. Mine said no prep necessary, but when I said I wanted to do an enema before going in, he gave me permission. Hope all goes well for U!
