Breast Tenderness

I am new to this posting, please bare with me. Has anyone experienced tender breasts after surgery (I have been experiencing tenderness that started after 4 months) i recently saw my MD (not Obgyn) and she thinks its all anxiety, how can you imagine pain in your breasts. Uncomfortable Fullness, and when you wake up in the am and they feel like they have been tugged on all night long? Usually after a shower and i put my bra on the pain is more faint.

Breast Tenderness

Hi Donnah,

Did you keep your ovaries?? I kept my ovaries and I am one year post op and I still get breast tenderness during that time of the month. Basically PMS. Tells me my ovaries are still working.

Best wishes,

Mary

Breast Tenderness

I had a little bit of this and still do once in awhile. I have my ovaries but they're not working too good yet so Dr. put me on Premarin. Since the Premarin I rarely ever have the tenderness. I've also hear if you take vitamin E that helps with the tenderness. Ask the nurse or your pharmacist about dosage.

Breast Tenderness

Thank you for the support and reassurance. I kept both ovaries. My surgery was because of fibroids and heavy bleeding. Since I was under 45 years of age the doctor felt it was important to keep my ovaries, for menapause reasons.

Breast Tenderness

Hi Donnah - I believe you! What kind of a thing is that for your doc to say! Shame - tell her to visit HS site and do a search for "breast tenderness" - she will have all kinds of trouble proving that it is due to anxiety! In fact, do the search because there are a lot of threads here about it. Too many for me to go paste them all here (and I do not know how to do it)! But, I read a lot of them because this was a big concern for me, too.

I had TAH (kept both ovaries but one was resected) eight weeks ago. I read here that some princesses rubbed progesterone cream onto their tender breasts and it helped them. I ordered a jar and waited for the ovaries to kick back in. When the tenderness and breast-bloating set in, I applied the cream and it made a huge difference! The pain did go away, not the bloat, and I was much less unhappy. I put some cream on every night until the breast bloat went away - that seemed a good indication that the pain would be gone. It really worked for me! Try it!

WOW! I never heard of that, but what a great idea! Thanks for that information. My nipples seem to be a little xtra sensitive, wonder if it will help for that too? And I have to agree, why would a Dr. tell you that it's stress? Almost sounded insensitive and non caring. I do know that the vitamin E is supposed to work too. Hope it gets better.
