Donating my own blood?

Whom do I need to talk to about donating my own blood for my TAH? Is it done at the castle, the local blood bank? How much do they take? How long before my procedure do I need to have the blood taken? Should I stop taking my anti-inflamitory med before I donate? I take it everyday so why should it matter? I know I am asking a lot of ??? at one time but any help on this topic would be great.

My surgery is at the end of August. My GYN nurse called this week to schedule my pre-ops, she then also told me to call the hospital in the next week to donate my own blood.
This morning the hospital called to pre-register me so that everything would be set-up and ready for me.
When I called the blood-donation line, they instructed me that all my blood had to be donated at least 7 days prior to surgery. I could only donate 1 unit a week and that the blood is only good for 35 days. They said that anytime someone is going in for surgery, they could donate there own blood (if they were strong enough).

It might be a little early for your GYN to give you instructions regarding your surgery. I was told I could take my ibuprofen up until my pre-ops and then my GP and GYN would instruct me then what to stay off of.
