Laprascopic hysterectomy soon

Good Morning Sisters! I will hopefully know my surgery date next week. My GYN said it'll be early to mid December. I'm having my uterus, Fallopian tubes and ovaries removed via laprascopic surgery. I've read that the recovery is quite easy compared to a TAH. I'd appreciate hearing any advice on post op experiences. Thank you

Re: Laprascopic hysterectomy soon

Hello JacqueOCS! I had an LAVH performed in October (kept both ovaries). The first few days were uncomfortable, but at three and a half weeks, I am almost back to my normal routine. I still get some random aches and pains, but they are never bad enough to have me reach for pain killers. In fact, I have not taking any kind of pain killer since last week.

Re: Laprascopic hysterectomy soon

My first week was pretty slow. But as the healing progressed each day got better. The key is to balance rest and activity. My uterus was massive so I had to remember though things looked minimal on the outside the story inside was different. I had a weight restriction of 10 lbs for 6 weeks. I did basic chores but nothing heavy duty. I had a rough year leading up to my surgery date so I wanted to take the time to heal. Listen to your body and follow your post-op instructions. We are each unique good luck with your surgery and happy healing

Re: Laprascopic hysterectomy soon

Thank you ladies for responding. I read where we're not supposed to vacuum, push a buggy while shopping or as you said Ealasaid, no lifting over 10 lbs for at least 6 weeks. I'm eager to sit down w/my surgeon and ask all these questions. I'm sure he mentioned something after he told me he recommended the hyster, but I wasn't absorbing it all. Good luck to all of you. I'll be praying for you .
