3 weeks post hysterectomy -- PMS/period symptoms?

Hi I'm 3 weeks post bikini cut hysterectomy, both ovaries and cervix intact. My period would be due right about now and I'm having breast tenderness and my face has broken out like a 13 year old in puberty..... anyone else?

Re: 3 weeks post op-- PMS/period symptoms?

As you kept your ovaries you'll More than likely still experience PMS and having your cervix, you will also get mini-periods.

Not to sound stupid, but what's a mini period and how is it possible with no uterus?

3 weeks post hysterectomy -- PMS/period symptoms?

The cervix is actually a part of the uterus, not a separate organ. Because there's no clear line to divide it from the rest of the uterus, there's always the possibility of leaving some endometrial tissue behind; because you kept your ovaries, you'll still have some cyclical spotting or bleeding, although not as much as before. I had an LSH, and was told to expect bleeding, but I never had any. Apparently, they can cauterize the cervix to prevent any further bleeding, so if it bothers you, then it's worth asking about. Best wishes for your continued recovery!
