Estradiol patch

hello everyone!
I'm 3wks post-op tomorrow. What a roller coaster of physical & emotional changes! My 5 yr old brought home head lice day 3 post op (thank you daycare) & gave it to my teenager and I. I had a hard time breaking the life cycle of lice and did soooo much laundry i popped a stitch so 1.
1-1/2 wks to eliminate all scalp biters, i am officially a mass lice murderer.

Was having bad hot flashes and mood swings so I started Estradiol patch 2wks post op (falling off on day 3 w/ a lovely black lint circle around it) yay!
Tenderness and pressure in tummy & vagina... almost feels like last month of my 1st pregnancy when baby had dropped and it felt like I was going to pee my pants along with the baby's head poking out.
Feels like my taste buds have changed recently? Just random thought...
I tend to overdo everything and find it difficult to balance rest and motion. Would love to lay on the beach and soak up some sun...Estradiol pamphlet frowns on that. Is it that big a deal?

Wow!! I'm so sorry you had such a hard time so far..
Here's my advice:
Rest and more rest!
You say you have a teenager- enlist his/her help ( maybe he / she needs something you could buy ? I'm getting my daughter a gel manicure as thanks for all get help, not necessary but it was appreciated!).
You really should rest a lot, especially since you have alteady popped a stitch and are feeling a heaviness which is from swelling.
I'm almost 4 weeks post op and still have almost no energy.....
One suggestion I have is to send laundry out to a local laundromat - it was much cheaper than I thought and at least I have that off my mind.
Best wishes !!

Re: Estradiol patch

Glad to hear the lice are under control. It's never convenient when that happens, but what awful timing! We were fortunate never to encounter it in our household, but several of my friends dealt with it - yep, from school and kids' events.

I agree, get family to help - teenagers are quite capable. Things like carrying laundry, the pushing-pulling motions of vacuuming, mopping or sweeping are not good for healing. That's probably why you're getting the tenderness and pressure in your pelvic region. There are risks from doing Too Much Too Soon After Hysterectomy, including a vaginal cuff tear now (way more serious than popping a stitch), or adhesions which could see you having more surgery down the road as a neighbor of mine did due to her rectum being twisted. We've got a new article on Tips for Housekeeping to guide you.

Your medical team did their part to bring you through surgery successfully. Now it's your turn to do your part, and it is your choice. You've got one chance to heal properly.

Thank you! I had not realized how easy it was to over-do it.
