3 weeks post op not a good day

quick kind of medical question---I understand that the 3-4 week period is the hardest.. Is this physically, emotionally, or wow how stupid could I be I just had major abdominal surgery--lol.
Anyhow just wondering what is going on inside that the majority of people feel like this during these weeks
Thanks

3 weeks post op not a good day

Thankfully we are all normal here. I took a nap today, 15 min but it felt good. I am fortunate to be able to rest and relax while I heal. My kids are all grown and the inlaws are taking care of themselves. (they live with us). I have had more feeling in my ab area but that is to be expected since the dr reached up there and grabbed my uterus and ovaries and tubes. Sounds nice huh, I find the post op stuff good right now since we are in weeks 3 and 4. take care everyone and HAPPY Anniversary to WSmith0914

3 weeks post op not a good day

I too feel worse the last several days than I have since about day 4. I went back to work on Monday, and while I have a desk job, I find that it is causing entirely too much pain and pressure on my back, bladder, colon & vagina to sit upright all day. It's making me miserable.

3 weeks post op not a good day

I posted about having pains still too, as we seem to all still have, just wanted to remind you that often it's our body saying we may be pushing too hard or not geting enough rest. Since I had tons of adhesions from my c-section (which I found out at hysterectomy), I've been trying to be very careful this time.

3 weeks post op not a good day

I am 3 weeks post op today. I had nausea the first few days after surgery and then my appetite returned. Now at 3 weeks I've been having mild nausea again for the past few days. Nothing to make me vomit, just kinda queazy. I'm also starting to get some night sweats and hot flashes and headaches, so I'm just chalking it all up to my hormones being whacked out. I saw my gyno 2 days ago and he said I'm healing great but to take it easy. I think I"ve been overdoing things a bit as I've had hubby take me to the mall everyday for a little walking. As far as the nausea goes though, I take nux vomica, which is a homeopathic remedy and it seems to help. I also agree with the sister that the nausea can be related to having to poop. I always feel icky before a BM, which by the way are still quite painful due to adhesions I had removed on the bowel.
Peppermint tea helps too.

Da Vinci TVH & BSO: stage 4 endometriosis, adenomyosis, bowel & bladder adhesions and 6cm ovarian cyst.

part of the 3-4 week frustration club

I had a TAH on December 18th and am also at that weird frustration point. I feel "weird" and have moments of extreme impatience with myself. Also threw a tantrum this week, but I really don't want to re-live that!

In a different thread someone mentioned the surgery involved seven layers of tissue. Pain and discomfort justified!

I think part of my frustration is that it seemed magic was going to happen at the 2-week point -- I would be able to drive, etc, so when I felt crummy, I felt discouraged.

It is VERY hard not being able to take part in things I enjoy -- I had started music lessons before surgery and was making progress, but now dr says I can't even practice for another couple of weeks. I will be miles behind everyone else! Plus there are gatherings happening with work buddies that I have to forego. Then yesterday DH took me to Target for some needs and I wanted to curl up on the floor in the shampoo aisle and sleep. This is not me!

So I am trying to look for positives. How many times in my busy life have a CRAVED a day with really nothing to do? I am doing tasks and resting when I feel I need to, but I am also sitting and looking out the window and simply experiencing existing. Right now it is snowing out with big Charlie Brown flakes. I am going to go watch and maybe even enjoy it.

Even the Charlie Brown reference makes me emotional....at least we are on this roller coaster together........I would say to sit back and enjoy the ride, but it would be more fun to throw your hands in the air and scream through the dips and turns!!

Be Patient & Get Help

I had my TAH on Dec 8th and thought I was recovering well but here at 4 weeks post-op I'm wondering just when I will get back to NORMAL in the mid-section but it looks like it's going to take me the full six weeks to even feel normal......hope you can find some help and take it easy for a few more weeks! I'm finally getting caught up on some reading!
