Post OP Da Vinci Complications
I had a robotic hysto on 7-2 and was admitted back in the hospital on 7-13 for 3 days. I had a 8x8 pool of fluid where the uterus was. I had strep B. Is this infection caused from the surgery or the hospital?? I Have had UTI's since the surgery also--will this go away anytime soon? I am also still having light pink blood coming out when ever I do alot...
Please Help????

Re: Post OP Da Vinci Complications
i also am a strep B carrier, alot of women are and i'm not sure why... i don't think it comes from surgery or the hospital though, since i've been a carrier since 2002 and hadn't been in the hospital since 1995... as for the uti's, i don't know when those will end either... have you been on antibiotics for them? the spotting can still happen (as you are experiencing) from over activity, so just keep an eye on it...

Nola -
I am so glad you found us but sorry to hear that you are having issues.
Here are a couple of post-op articles that you may find helpful:
Discharge after hysterectomy
UTIs after hysterectomy
The spotting is letting you know that you are still doing too much for your body. We all heal at different rates, so depending on your surgery initial recovery can be 2/4 to 6/8 weeks with full recovery being 6 to 12 months.

Re: Post OP Da Vinci Complications
Yes I have been on antibotics, but I started using that cystix liquid its like 8 glasses of cranberry and that helps with out meds, but when I do not take it I feel it coming back.
As far as over doing it --I really have been good with that. I see the Dr next week I guess I will see what he says
Thanks for taking time to help

Nola
You might have been a GBS (group B strep carrier) before surgery. I had a DiVinci assisted hysterectomy and had a fluid collection post op too. Massage abdomen gently under warm running water when in the shower. For this procedure we are practically "standing on our heads"on the OR table and its difficult to get all this fluid out of us (some is irrigation they use during procedure, some is from fat dissolving) Hope you do well
