Anyone having BP issues after surgery?

I have always had low BP, but after the surgery and going on hormones, My BP used to always be 105/78 or in that range all my life, Now it shoots up, especially at night, to 140/95 or at least always the bottom number is above 90. I stopped the hormone thinking that was it but been off it 5 days and still have these episodes in the evenings. Any one else had this issue after surgery?

Re: Anyone having BP issues after surgery?

I understand what you are talking about with your blood pressure. However, mine will go way low and then way too high. Mine started right after my TAH. That was July 09, 2013. Oh, and the ringing in my ears...OMG! I continue to have difficulties but at this point just monitor my bp and take a Beta Blocker. I am doing well, our bodies just need time to heal from the major stress we just put it through. I have only been 7 months.

Re: Anyone having BP issues after surgery?

My BP was up when I was in the hospital and for a week afterwards. I haven't had it checked since then but for me I know it was because of the stress and the pain. Different meds will also contribute to a higher BP.

Mine bounces up and down, but the bottom number is staying consistently over 80. Yesterday it was 104/76 while doing house work. When I started to bed at 11 it was 144/91 heart rate 80. My rate will range from 72-100. My BP is up and down. But I constantly have a headache, nauseated, and general tired feeling. I had an EKG last week it showed fine, but called the cardiologist back and he wants to give me BP med????? The OBGYN says she doesn't think its surgery related???/ So frustrated with the feeling and the doctors. I don;t want a band aid, I want a fix!

Re: Anyone having BP issues after surgery?

I have whitecoat syndrome but my blood pressure was always normal at home. It has gone haywire since surgery. They kept me in recovery 3 extra hours because they couldn't get my blood pressure down. It just so happened my mom left her monitor at my house ( she stayed with the kids while I was in the hospital). So I checked it the day after I got home and it was 205/107. I called my doctor and she was sure it was a mistake because I felt fine. So she sent me to a local store to check it and it was 187/98 there. She wanted me to go to the ER but I pleaded to please not go. So she put me on BP meds. It's now been a month and I'm still on them. My BP was at 130/90 at my last visit at 2.5 weeks post op. She was ok with that because of my whitecoat history. Now my blood sugar and cholesterol are going crazy.

I was SUPER stressed out over surgery and I really think the stress of it all including the trauma to my body has everything just knocked out of whack. I am working on relaxing and watching what I eat. I have an appointment with a cardiologist to get things sorted out and start treatment this week. I feel great and have no symptoms of the high BP, diabetes, or cholesterol. None-zip,zero,nada. So I'm hoping it will all resolve and end up being just related to the stress/ trauma.
