Piece of Cake!!

Surgery yesterday morning and feeling incredible right now. Worst part was back pain immediately after surgery, so they blasted me with pain control for the next hour or so, then I couldn't keep my respiration levels up so I had to stay awake. Enter "whiny baby". Nursing staff and doctors were amazing, so patient and kind to me.

Before I went under, I was told it was an all girl procedure and I said I hoped they would be playing some Beyonce during the procedure... Girl power and all that... they laughed. All the single ladies... boop boop!

Was told afterwards by the doctor that she took my cervix (unexpected), uterus, both tubes, and one ovary (unexpected). Even though there were a few unexpected losses, I am not upset, I'm happy to have an ovary and no more Pap tests!!

I am amazed at how good my girly areas feel. My c-section 26 years ago was definitely a more painful experience. I guess my pain tolerance has improved... or else it's the morphine lol!

My blood pressure is really low, 95/55... and I have typically been on the high side in the past 10 years or so, so they are checking me more throughout the night.. I stopped pumping the morphine in the hopes that it will help.

All in all, excited about the future without my uterus. I told my niece yesterday that I felt bad about evicting it, as it probably doesn't know what it has done, but my niece said "oh it knows what it's done lol".

Which reminds me, I had Adenomyosis.

Re: Piece of Cake!!

Hi Bossycow, it's good to hear that everything went well and that you are feeling good. Your body has been through a lot. It's good that they are monitoring you BP. Hopefully the stopping of the morphine pump works and it starts too come back up soon. I hated that stuff

Once you are discharged try to remember that eventbough you are feeling great, your insides are healing, so go easy onn yourself

I pray that you have a very successful recovery. Happy healing!

Lots of ((HUGS)) to you

Re: Piece of Cake!!

I don't want to be a downer but its probably the pain meds making you feel great. Don't be surprised if today is a little worse and you feel more pain and uncomfortable. This surgery is a roller coaster of recovery. I'm 4 weeks today and still need most if the day to rest, pulling and pinching pains and still some gas and bm issues. Good luck and don't be afraid to come here and ask questions!

Re: Piece of Cake!!

I felt the same way in the hospital! I thought man, this is a breeze! Then they took away the good drugs and sent me home. I hope you do continue to feel awesome, just be patient with yourself. You had almost the exact things removed as me, except I had a cantaloupe sized tumor taken as well. Take care of you, if you don't who will?

Re: Piece of Cake!!

Yep- it knew what it did to lose its lease.... and while you probably won't sail through recovery, I do wish you a road as smooth as my own, I few bumps, a few blind turns but overall an easy drive and the views are amazing! Congratulations and my very best wishes for a bright, "girl trouble" free future!

(Oh, and that headache does not last forever, it just feels that way- cold compresses helped me)
