vertical incision

Is a vertical incision really necessary for fibroids causing a utereus to grow 2-3 inches north of the belly button?
Is the recovery time any different for vertical vs. horizontal incisions?
Thanks!

Re: vertical incision

Dear Meghan:

Have you gotten a 2nd or 3rd medical opinion? My doc #2 had much more cutting & pasting in mond for me than doc #3.

I hope you are able to find the right answers soon. I am sending huge cyberhugs

Re: vertical incision

I have a consult with another doc Oct 6th, I have a client that's an ob/gyn and he agreed with my doc. He even said the incision would need to go north of my belly button to be able to access the whole thing. Or I could do lupron first to shrink it. I've been on lupron. It gives me debilitating migraines.

Re: vertical incision

I have a vertical incision near my navel, which initially gave me pause because I'd been reading so much about the more traditional "bikini cut". It ain't the prettiest thing ever, but even just three days out, it's thin and not too dark. It's really not something I'm thinking about or regretting: the pain I'm experiencing isn't just an incision thing, but also connected to the stuff on the inside that we don't have to see. Plus, whatever amount of pain we end out with is more than manageable by the pills they have these days.

Honestly, I'm glad to have whatever "war paint" the doctor finds appropriate, as long as I have faith in the doctor. They choose the incisions with care, based on a lot of factors including which one will allow them to see what they have to to ensure success.

Great that you're getting another opinion: that really helps with the whole "faith in the doctor" thing. You bring up excellent questions on this thread, including the question of whether recovery will be different: I hope you can get good, solid answers straight from the "source" as it were.
