On my way to recovery, 20 days post op TAHBSO

I'm 42 and I just had my TAHBSO last Sept. 16, 2010. Stayed in the hospital for about 4 days. Pain was tolerable with pain meds given round the clock. I did not experience bleeding, except for some light brown spotting.

Twenty-days post op, I'm slowly getting into recovery. I'm not taking any pain meds. I do get occasional pain, but not that requires pain relievers. I'm more mobile now, but I still don't over exert myself.

One thing though, I'm starting to have night sweats and hot/cold flashes. But so far, those are still manageable. My doctor prescribed me Remifemin for the menopausal symptoms, but I haven't taken them yet.

I have another post op check up 2 weeks from now, and I was told I would be given HRT. I was still hoping for an alternative therapy. I've read about the side effects of HRT and it scares me.

Yes the power surges can be rough. I am roughly a week ahead of you and my Dr is waiting for HRT or other treatment until I am healed (had a infection so incision is open long story)

There is a separate section of the forums dedicated to treating menopause symptoms. I believe that one is all about natural options.

I will check on that forum. I really need enough information before I get into HRT.

BTW, I'm so sorry about the infection you had. I can't imagine the pain you must feel.

Thank you so very much each day gets easier and I know things could have been worse so I try to stay positive.

I always say information is power. My Dr was so surprised on how prepared I was going into surgery from all the information I found on this site.
