18 days out, pressure and spotting

Hi,
I had the LAVH on October 14 and had uterus, ovaries, and cervix removed. Yesterday I started having a lot of pressure feeling in the vaginal area and some bright red spotting. I am not running a fever and it doesn't have an odor. I called my doctor and she said it could be due to walking a little more this weekend and would check me if I wanted. I don't want to seem like a worry wart and go to her office if this is something that is a normal part of the recovery. Is this just part of the process of the body taking over for the job that the stitches were doing and the muscles are just weak down there?

Thanks for your replies,
Priscilla

Re: 18 days out, pressure and spotting

Hi (((Priscilla))

I am glad that you had the chance to speak to your doctor's office. Being more active can definitely have after effects. Hopefully your bleeding has eased up by now. There can be spotting as the stitches are dissolving too, which can last for a number of weeks. Bright red blood indicates something different though since the spotting with absorbable stitches tends to be darker, older blood. I'm sure your doctor suggested taking it easier until it lets up, which is always a good idea so early on in recovery.

Please keep us updated if you can!
