Symptoms of adenomyosis
I had an endometrial ablation on 8/2003 which helped with my periods no bleeding since. But I am still having lower back pain, front pelvic cramping. Painful sex at times, and pain after sex.
What are some of the symptoms that people who have adenomyosis have out there. My doctor suspects adeno but, the only way to find out is hysterectomy....
Thanks

Symptoms of adenomyosis
Hi Soccer3,
I had fibroids not adeno.
And from my research, the symptoms of adeno seem to be painful and heavy periods and chronic back pain.
Can your Dr. possibly do some tests?? Like a MRI or a hysteroscopy??
Also, possibly your Dr. can suggest danazol, progesterone or b.c treatments if you do have it.
Just some ideas. Good luck. We Hyster Sisters are here to help if we can.

Symptoms of adenomyosis
From what I understand, an MRI can also show adeno. When I had my ultrasound the tech pointed out what she said was adeno, and she was right. I had a cone biopsy, D&C, 2 ultrasounds. The pain and bleeding just kept getting worse, until I was on pain meds 24/7. From all I've read (and what I experienced) any invasive procedure just makes things worse.
If you do have adeno, the only "cure" is a hyster.
Good luck.

Symptoms of adenomyosis
Sweetie, I had adeno and basically my symptoms were pain especially during my period and after sex, heavy bleeding and the passage of large almost black-like clots during my periods. I was diagnosed after a D & C when my doctor said I had an enlarged and boggy-like uterus. And yes, a hyst is the only cure for adeno! Good luck to you!

Symptoms of adenomyosis
4 months after my abalation my cramps got worse. Then i had an MRI because i wanted to get a UAE but the radiologist said i would not be a good candidate because he suspected adeno. hysterecomy was the only way to go. I am now four weeks post op and the pathology report came back severe adeno. my uterus was enlarged so i had a SAH. my symptoms were back ache, severe cramping heavy bleeding and clotting. before the abalation i was anemic from the prolonged periods (2 weeks off 2 weeks on) and by the time i had my SAH i was getting anemic again. I feel for you i know how bad the cramping can be.

Symptoms of adenomyosis
Here is what webmd has to say about it:
Adenomyosis
My symptoms, which crept up on me gradually over several years, were increasingly painful cramps, heavier bleeding, heavier clotting, and eventually almost nonstop bleeding. As you already know, the only way to know for sure is post-hyster when the pathology lab can examine the uterus.

Symptoms of adenomyosis
Found out I had adeno after surgery, but I was experiencing pretty bad "stomach" cramps & pain for 3wks out of every 4, this may be why?
Clots etc were probably due to the endo they also found, I actually thought clots were normal! LOL
I know this wasnt of a lot of help but was my experience.
Cheers from

Symptoms of adenomyosis
I too had adeno and a huge fibroid, my hyster saved my life. I was going crazy from the pain. I started out with PCOS, 16 years of pain is 16 years too long. I feel like I have been set free.
