Prolific endo and chronic uterine irritation?

I just came back from my dr. appointment with my third doctor (the previous two left the practice within a week of each other). Dr. #2 said that I had all of the symptoms of andemyosis and that hyster was the only remedy. He told me, "If anyone tries to tell you that hormones will fix this, tell them they are an idiot and to do a hyster." Dr. #3 (who was recommended by Dr. #2) today tells me that based on the report from Dr. #1's d&c and hysteroscopy I had prolific endo and chronic uterine irritation. This is the first I have heard this. Dr. #3 today tells me that she would like to insert an IUD, put me on hormones, etc. to control everything. I basically told her that because of my time frame (leaving the country for 4 years in 8 weeks) I really just wanted to do the hyster. But, now I am wondering, what should I do? I am really bafled by all of these conflicting reports from three different doctors all who work together. I have researched andemyosis alot and really feel like it is my problem based on number of c-sections (4), pain constantly in pelvic area, and very irregular periods. Has anyone heard of treating this with an IUD? Also, what is prolific endo? Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thank you.

Prolific endo and chronic uterine irritation?

I have never heard of prolific endo. I looked up the meaning of prolific in the dictionary and it says Producing offspring or fruit in great abundance; fertile; Producing abundant works or results. Makes it sound like the endometriosis is growing rapidly.

I haven't heard of using an IUD for the treatment of endo either.

Are any of these doctor endo specialist? The best way to handle endometriosis is to have it surgically removed (cut out). The best way to handle andenomyosis is by a hyster.

I took a chance that I had adenomyosis and had a hyster. The decision was vindicated by the pathology reports that I did have adenomyosis.

I know this doesn't help much. If you decide to have a hyster, you will have to stand up for your decision and find a doctor, who knows how to recognize all of the colors of endo and will cut it out when doing the hsyter.

Love,
Donna

Prolific endo and chronic uterine irritation?

I have heard of doctors trying iuds with progestin to help with endo. I never did that route.

But, there are alternatives to a hysterectomy. I have tried different hormonal treatments and herbals too.

I would definitely consider a doctor in a different firm who specializes in endo.

A hysterectomy isn't a cure for endo. Some women after having a hsyterectomy have problems because the doctor who did their surgery were unable to get all the endo.

Many doctors won't do a hysterectomy until all avenues have been tried. Some insurance companies are the same way as well.

Best of luck to you
