Still hurting

Hello,

I had my hysterectomy 12-05-06 ( abd ). Left the ovaries. I am 5 weeks into my six week medical leave from work and I am still feeling like I was kicked by a horse. Just above my pubic bone and right below my belly button are the two places that still hurt very much.
My husband found your website after my second day home from the hospital. My first three weeks home were the worst day's of my life.

I have MANY questions but, my first is this...
About 4 days ago I noticed a "yellowish" discharge in my panties and on my tissue after using the bathroom. Not alot.
There is no odor and I have not felt feverish or sick. I am seeing my Dr. this afternoon. I just wondered if this was part of the normal healing process?
I am going back to work next week and am hoping to be cleared to do so. I have NEVER been more bored or felt more useless in all of my life.
Thanks for being here!

Still hurting

Hang in there sweetie..........I am 5 months post op and I still hurt from time to time and especially where my incision is. I had discharge up to a few weeks ago but mine was due to granulation (improper healing along the incision line, inside).

Talk to your doctor often if you can......Mine was a godsend and so was his nurse practitioner. Hope you have a good day today

The yellow discharge is likely normal healing as the stitches dissolve.
If you are not ready to return to work, ask for more time from your doctor. 6 weeks is a MINIMUM time off for a hyst --- particularly abdominal. I think you'd feel better with 8.

Hi BellyachN
Welcome to Hystersisters! I agree with what has been said already. If there is no bad odor or pain with the yellow discharge it's generally from the dye in the stitches that are dissolving right now. I had it for a couple of weeks too.
If you're still hurting now, I really suggest you try to take a little more time off work or at least start with part time if that's possible. It's going to be an adjustment for you even if you were feeling good right now. I'm concerned for you if you try to go back full time.
Listen to your body. Everything should be getting better each week, but it sounds like you're still healing. Keep us posted on your progress.
's, Rita
