Lifting again??

So I've been cleared for everything, I had a LAVH and BSO on 2/29 and some adhesions removed. I lifted my son for the first time a few days ago when I was released and it brought with it a terrible pain! I was sore all weekend afterward so I went to doc but could only see PA, she said I have irritated the scar tissue and to build up the stomach muscles. Problem hubby is supposed to go back to work tomorrow and it is still very sore and hurts to lift the baby. He'll probably lose his job if he stays home any longer, but I'm not sure what to do now. It's a burning pain and the gets tender to touch and I get the swelly belly after doing so and it just hurts so much. My hubby said he would stay home if I needed him to, but I'm just not sure what to do. If anyone can help here I would appreciate it.

Re: Lifting again?????????

Oh no...that's terrible

All I can tell you is to rest and don't lift for now. I think maybe you will need your husband to stay home.

Serious.

Adhesions can recur and I know you don't want that! I had adhesions removed, too, and was told to only lift 5 pounds for 2 weeks, 10 pounds for weeks 3 and 4, then I can do 20 pounds as tolerated on weeks 5 and 6, then 30 at weeks 7 and 8, then, if I am doing okay, I can have restrictions lifted.

I am at 3 weeks and have only lifted 10 pounds 3 times...I swell up and ache, so, I backed it off to 7 and seem okay.

The reason my doc said is to decrease adhesion formation and allow my stomach muscles to fully recover. I had a TAH, though, so, maybe that's why she's so cautious. But I do know that you really have to back off if you feel pain and take a few steps back in your recovery.

Hope this helps and I sincerely hope you get the help you need and feel better soon! Peace.
