3 Wks. Post Op and STILL IN PAIN!

Hi Carroll,

Honey you are still early in the healing process. Take your pain medicine, lay down, and rest. I noticed at 3 weeks, sitting at this computer too long really cranked up the pain. Try to walk when you feel up to it....not tonight, you need to just rest for now. Start out with short walks....ease back into it when you are ready. I'm post 7 wks and by this afternoon my two incision sites for the bladder sling started throbbing again. I have about a ft long vertical ab. incision....I'm still aching by the late afternoon to early evenings. Be patient and by all means, make sure your dr has you on a good pain management, you're gonna need it.

3 Wks. Post Op and STILL IN PAIN!

I agree with the others that the third week is really a stinker.

Also, I read somewhere that pain management is important because, if you pain is not being managed, your body uses up the energy it would be using for healing to fight the pain instead. So, I go ahead and take my pain medication when I first begin feeling uncomfortable, because by this time in my recovery, I know that I will be feeling worse soon.

I have been using ibuprofin 600 mg for my pain. When I went for my two-week checkup, the doctor kindly volunteered the information that I could take tylenol in between - since I can take only three ibuprofin a day. This really helps me. I don't know what your pain meds are, but if you are on ibuprofin like me, you might want to ask your doctor about adding tylenol. Sometimes we have to find our own potential solutions and then ask our doctor for the okay.

3 Wks. Post Op and STILL IN PAIN!

How was the pain overall with that bladder sling. My doc wanted to do it but I decided against it. I had a large uterus pressing on my bladder making me pee a lot. So he said why not get a bladder sling but didn't want to discuss it much. So I went home and did my own research and saw a lot of women have trouble with them such as UTI's, allergy to the material ect so I decided against it. Besides, I was also having a tummy tuck and 2 surgeries was enough for me. Anyway, since my large uterus was removed, and isn't pressing on my bladder anymore, I don't have to pee all the time. But I was wondering how involved the bladder sling was and did it cause much pain?

3 Wks. Post Op and STILL IN PAIN!

Hi Kathleen1. I had the bladder sling before my hysterectomy. It went fine. The only problem I had was the swelling due to the inflimation after the surgery. I had to cath myself for a week because it was so swollen that the urine couldn't come through. Other then that, it was an easy recovery. I had to because I would leak urine when I would cough, sneeze, laugh etc... the dr. said it was due to 3 babies in 3 years.. I hope this helps you out. I would have gladly took a tummy tuck over the bladder sling though.. LOL. hang in there and thanks to everyone for their support, Carroll
