Yes...all the best to you too, Louise...and Angela and Kristen too!
We've all been through a lot, hey?
As much as I wouldn't wish our journeys on anyone, it's good to know that we all here together...and looking forward to brighter futures without the heavy bleeding, pain, discomfort, bloating and unpredictability.
Oh...regarding the granny undies...I haven't got any. Do you think you'll need them if you're having a VH?
Off to do a pre-op 'clipping' (ie. 'tidying up') as instructed by my Dr. The things you do!
Cheers.

Re: Pre-Op Hysterectomy: Open House Chat Thread - Today Jul 19, 2015
Hello everyone,
I'm Shantei, 43, and will be having my TAH, but keeping ovaries, on Monday, the 20th. I'm feeling nervous and anxious, but mostly grateful that the pain and bleeding will stop.
I've had fibroids since I was eighteen with years of heavy bleeding and pain that I described as "my insides being ripped out by a crowbar". I had an exploratory lap because they thought I had a cyst on my left ovary (turns out my fibroid on that side was blocking my ovary) and 2 UFEs. For awhile the pain decreased to mild discomfort during my periods, but still had the heavy bleeding. The pain recently returned with a vengeance and I started bleeding every other week.
I wish all of you good luck on your surgeries; and may God give your minds and hearts peace and comfort.

I think the granny pants might be useful even with a VH - I've read reports on here of "swelly belly" post op, and I think big knickers would be more comfy if that happens x

Did any of you ladies buy a binder, grabber, or back scratcher? I bought a toliet riser, I know that will come in handy.

Hi, I'm Jessica, in the UK. I'm having a total laparascopic hyst, bilat. salpingectomy, hoping to keep ovaries but as I have been having some menopausal symptoms for a couple of years that might not make a lot of difference. I'm a bit nervous of the pain after, but telling myself I can deal with it, it's only the once, whereas the period pain is every 3 weeks, together with flooding and clots, so it'll be much better I the long run. I have 4 children, 3 on the autistic spectrum, plus 2 grandchildren, one of whom is profoundly deaf, so I am definitely done with babies! Even though I am only 42 - I've packed a lot in my life so far, lol. Like the rest of you, I've bought a couple of nighties and some big knickers to cope with the swelly belly. Also have rearranged the furniture so I can have the sofa if I can't make it up the stairs. Luckily we have toilets on both floors so wherever I end up I'll be fine on that front, lol. Good luck, ladies xx

I know how you feel, I've been bleeding since last year. I'm so tired all the time. It will be nice to have my life back. I am so done with kids as well, I also have 4.
Have packed for the castle yet?

Re: Pre-Op Hysterectomy: Open House Chat Thread - Today Jul 19, 2015
Haha, nope, I am a last minute packer. I will throw some things in a bag this week -op is on Thursday. I'll find time between helping my mum with her garden, taking my girls to get their ears pierced, going to pick my son up from his special school 65 miles away and collecting my mum for babysitting duties. And walking the dogs. And getting all the washing done. Won't need much, really, just a 1 night stay. I'm too busy to get too anxious and stressed, anyway, lol. It'll be great to lose the anaemia, though x
