Just saying hello...pre-op is in 9 days.

Hello everyone!

I'd heard about this site on the web. Then today a couple of friends recommended it and I decided to drop in and look around.

My hyst was scheduled today for August 16. Pre op is on the 11th.

We're planning removal of everything that can be removed due to endometriosis, severe bleeding and pain and poly-cystic ovarian syndrome. I also have a family history of ovarian, cervical and breast cancers. A lap is planned, but doc said it could go to a standard incision surgery.

To be honest, I'm a little nervous but not much. A friend of mine commented that she found it quite odd that I'm actually looking forward to surgery. My reply was, "I'm 42 years old! I started cycling at 12. If someone beat you and caused severe bleeding and pain every month for 30 years, you'd be glad to get rid of it too!" Truth is there is some sadness, but I have faith that all things work for the best.

Oh, also wanted to ask if I should have a binder. I'm due to have the lap hyster, removing ovaries and cervix. Doc says there is a possibility that he'll have to do a TAH because I had c-section delivery instead of vag...something about that making a lap more difficult.

I know I need one if I have the tah, but what if i just have the lap? I'm rambling and not punctuating, I know, but I'm in tears from finding others like me!!
