July 9 is the day

I am having a full abdominal hysterectomy keeping my ovaries. I am very anxious and find myself facing this alone. My husband is going to be there for me: I have printed off the info for him about what to expect and I have a list ready for him. Thank you for that article. Anyways I find myself becoming really angry at the women around me whom I have made the mistake of confiding. NONE of them have had a hysterectomy but all have dismissed it as no big deal. Are you kidding? For example, today I went to the dentist to have my teeth cleaned and I mentioned that I was having major surgery next week involving general anes. So could I still have a cleaning? She inquired about the surgery and I felt I had to tell her and she immediately dismissed that as no problem. "it would have been different if you were having knee surgery because of potential clots". I am not making this up. So I am going this alone. I would rather do it this way logging into this site than to risk sharing the news with my "friends" while at my lowest point energy wise and emotionally charged only to be "pooh poohed" and "there there'd"

Funny, I had asked my gyn about getting teeth cleaned and dental work. He said it should be okay but if possible try to have it all done a few weeks beforehand ... Just in case.

Obviously, The dentist didn't realize that a hyster takes as long as knee surgery (my cousin had knee surgery the week before my LSH)...not to mention they are both major surgeries! I found myself educating folks on the surgery.
