Superwoman is tired!

I need to rant.

I have always been one who healed really quickly and I have a high tolerance for pain. The nurses were amazed at how much I was walking around the hospital. When I came home, I have been walking around with very little pain. I have mostly only had problems with getting up and getting out of bed but that is mostly gone now. I am 2.5 weeks post op and I feel like I missed out on the whole "pampering the princess" time!

I feel so good that I can't go back and ask for help for everything. I really wanted some time where my hubby and children brought me dinner, asked if I wanted anything to drink and ran to the store to get me things.

I know I should be happy that I am healing so well. I do feel very blessed. I just wish I could have been catered to a little bit more.

Is that so wrong!?

Re: Superwoman is tired!

I know how you feel -- I returned to work less than 3 weeks post hysterectomy. Good luck to you and do remember you are still healing so don't go crazy. Peace

Re: Superwoman is tired!

Hi mdbjdb!

No, it is not wrong to want to be pampered after we have been through so much

Go ahead and ask for some help now (so you don't mess up your recovery).

Make a declaration (using your authority as the princess in the house) that this coming weekend will be a "Pamper the Princess" weekend (not because you are unable to do things but because you deserve it!!). Make it stick. Do not do anything for anyone and have everyone do for you!!!

Hope you do and hope everyone cooperates!!!
Hugs,
Suzanne

Re: Superwoman is tired!

Oh, I know exactly how you feel. Yes, it is hard after being "Miss All That" to everyone for them to help you. My family has been quite helpful, but only if I ask. I am the kind of person that sees a need and takes care of it before anyone asks me, but apparently my children did not inherit this genetic ability. :-)

I think I have been more disappointed in my coworkers though than my family. I have 17 people in my dept., and I am the one who remembers everyone's birthday with a cake, cards for get well, sympathy, congratulations, etc., meals for the sick ones, etc. I have not received one meal or even flowers or a card from my dept. members. A few of them have called or e-mailed, but that is it.
