Period cramps, back aches, and increased pink discharge

Hi Stormy Dayz here
I have searched the internet looking for answers for the reason behind the period cramps and back ache. I am in my 4th week of recovery from a full hyst, everything was taken including cervix and both ovaries. I have read all sorts of things about women continuing to have period cramps for years and years after a hyst, Im 50, is this really whats going on, even though I have nothing inside of me to cause these period cramps and back pain! Is this normal

Also,I had the slightly pink discharge I was told was going to be normal for a good 6 weeks, and for two weeks it was just that, not much at all, didn`t need to wear panties, Now its gotten wet wet, remaining the same texture and colour but now much more abundant. Im getting sensitive now too.. It hasnt changed in scent or colour, but its so much heavier and I have had to start wearing panties or pantie liners, that;s a big difference... is this normal

Also whats the truth about intercourse, my surgeon says absolutely nothing before 8 weeks, and tons of things Im reading say 4 weeks and 6 weeks. my own GP thinks sooner, so what is the truth. Remember, I have a cuff now no cervix, what if the intercourse is gentle , is the reason the Dr saying no, so it doesn`t get torn, or is there another reason like infection from the sperm and lubricant

BTW Im noticing I am still quite weak, at 4 weeks recovering, and get light headed and close to fainting on three or 4 occasions now, maybe more, but too close calls for sure where l barely made it to my bed. I had a bleeder that kept erupting, every other day heavy dark blood, which eventually became a sealed in hematoma complication that eventually exploded for once and for all, and l now have had a week and a half on no bleeding...

Yes I saw the Dr and went to the Hospital several times. I think maybe my irons low from all the blood loss... would this be why lm still so weak

I would love to have some answers! I REALLY dont want to go in to see the surgeon yet again !!!

Re: Period cramps, back aches, and increased pink discharge

I did experience period like cramps for the first couple of months and was told it was normal. If all of a sudden you went from light spotting to heavy bleeding you really should call and get an appointment to see your Dr. It's always better to be safe then sorry. I spotted every now and then for up to 6 weeks but never bled on the heavy said. They say the rule of thumb is a pad an hour and it's time to head to the nearest E.R. As for intercourse, it is best to follow your Dr. instruction. I also had my cervix removed and I was given the go ahead at 6 weeks. This didn't go so well even though he was extremely gentle. We waited until 8 weeks and again, no luck. By 10 weeks it was fine. Everyone is different and we heal at a different pace so go with what you were told. There are many reasons for waiting until you get the go ahead. Tearing your vaginal cuff is a huge one, infection is another. As for feeling weak, this is another thing you should be calling your Dr. about. They can run blood work to see if it is your iron, which is possible but again it's better to be safe and it's for your own good in the long run.

Take care and feel better. Keep us posted.

Re: Period cramps, back aches, and increased pink discharge

Thanks Tracy, just to clarify, no heavy bleeding going on at all, just the same pick discharge but its now needing a light panty liner, where as it was only there for the first 2 a half weeks on TP, now no matter how much I wash up, or pat dry, it only takes a short time before I can feel it working its way back down again, color and texture has remained the same and so has the smell... still making me wonder if its become and infection. Unless it would have a scent if it were..... yes, no, maybe!!!
Its also making the inside of me tender, like a bit raw, to me that suggests that even though its not changed only gotten heavier, that maybe it could some how be an infection...

May l ask the reason why intercourse was not the best thing, was it just because of the pain of him touching ur cuff, or was there other factors.

A friend of mine said she had intercourse barely around the 4 week mark, said her lover never put it in all the way and made a conscience effort to never touch her back there at any time, she was able to enjoy having sex again early on with out damaging anything... so I was curious whats the earliest ppl have had sex after a full Hyst

Thanks again for taking time to answer my questions!

Re: Period cramps, back aches, and increased pink discharge

My surgeon said the discharge could vary a lot in amount throughout the healing period (he stated 3-5 weeks) and that it was normal. He also said it may stop and then restart days/weeks later and that also is normal. I think it all has to do with the healing process. He said only to be concerned if it had an offensive odour or I noticed fresh blood. I found days 5-8 my watery discharge was quite heavy, and now on day 11 it's been pretty much non-existent the last few days.

Hope that's some help. Sorry I can't address the other stuff.

Re: Period cramps, back aches, and increased pink discharge

An odor would be a sign of infection so if you start to notice one please call your dr. Instead of using toilet paper to wipe/pat try baby wipes to see if that helps to prevent the raw feeling you have. If that doesnt help then place a call to your dr and run it by them. As for sex everyone is different and heals at their own pace. I still strongly suggest you wait for the ok for intercourse. I was told outercourse was fine. Good luck.

Thanks a lot Tori, any feed back is good to have! Part of me is dreading going back to see the Doc yet again, I got sick and tired of being there all the time as I had several complications.
I ended up with a bleeder that would not let up, that ended up becoming a nice hematoma.
I was very fortunate to not have to it reopened and packed, because when it finally exploded, that was the end of all the bleeding I had been dealing with for two solid weeks, after the staples were removed. They were scary bleeds. And very spontaneous, and no amount of gauze could soak it up when it let loose.
So I have NO desire to truck back into the Drs any time soon!!!
