A desk job is just as hard as any other...

In fact, I am finding sitting in an office chair, even with a pillow, is far more painful then standing for several hours. Both are tiresome, but sitting is by far the most painful for me.

Today I made some adjustments which did help a lot but slowed down my productivity.

I made sure that every half hour I stood up and walked a little. I also did some paperwork standing at a counter. Most of my work is computer so not many chances to stand. When I do, I loose precious time to get the job done. It is hard for me to take breaks in any day and then have one every 1/2 hour is frustrating. However, I remember leaving work on Tuesday just barely able to get home and I follow my break routine as close as possible.

For me, the answer is a balance of sitting, lying, standing, and walking. Not too much of any at any given moment. By the time I figure it out, I will be ready to return to sitting up to four hours to get the work done!

Most jobs don't have a variety so they are all equally hard when going through this healing process. Who would have known that sitting for hours would hurt so much?

I'm still at home, but I know that sitting upright for more than a few minutes is difficult. When I go to the grocery store, I ride one of their motor carts. I take a pillow with me because the chair on the cart feels so hard.

Agree.. The compression on my stomach is causing more aches and pains than I have had for a couple of weeks. Sitting for longer than 2hrs or so really starts to cause the pains to shoot around. I too have a computer / desk job so it makes it difficult to find reasons to walk away. Standing & walking (or lying) is so much easier on my stomach.
