Question about returning to work?

TAH on 9/1/2010. Had two week post op 9/20/10, doctor just said you are not released, see you on 11/19/2010. Front desk person completed my FMLA and put a different date, end of October. Called doctor's office, they stated she just counts 8 weeks and put the date, they havent called me back. Not sure if I should wait til appt, work states I have to have clearance not just the FMLA papers? Help?

Re: Question about returning to work?

I had to fill out FMLA paperwork and had to change the date of my return to work. Doctors office had to change date on the papers and send it to my employer HR person andper my employer I could not return to work without a written release from my doctor stating it was okay for me to return to work. I got that when I went to see him earlier this week and it states return to work 10/12.

Re: Question about returning to work?

I just returned to work 9weeks post op this week. My doctor gave me a prescription pad note stating date I could return. My school asked for more documentation and all I did was call my doctor and have them fax over the papers. I did get extended leave and pay at a reduced rate, but I am happy I stayed out to recover.

Blessings

Re: Question about returning to work?

OK first of all do you have a person that oversees HR for your work? If so let them handle this for you. This is really what they are paid for, and you dont need to be worrying with this, but rather recovering. If not the dates on the FMLA papers are guidelines of when you will return to work not absolutes. They read like expected time of work or something like that, so what turds for giving you any trouble. Usually the only trouble is with disability not FMLA! UGGGG Ok besides that Dont panick because you have the end of October to get it fixed before they can do anything or try to do anything about your job. I would call and ask to speak to the person who handles the FMLA paperwork. In lots of offices its one person. Then just let them know what you need. If you can plan ahead and get your employers address or where your employer wants it sent the office would probably send it directly there for you, but have them mail or email you a copy as well for your own records. One last bit of information, som HR departments have rules on how often you must at least check in for me it is every 30 days, so be sure you are in compliance with that policy. Hope this helps some. Dont be afraid to call back. As at the desk if the person doing FMLA is in office and when you should expecta return call from message before they tyransfer you. Then call back if you dont get the timely response they indicated. If that seems to not resolve leave a message to have office manager call you , then finally work up to the doctor. I hope this helps. I have had to deal with this some in the past for my family. Thank goodness we have an awesome HR team where I work, but I am so sorry this has been a stressor for you, Bookadoo
