Countdown - 12 Days

I would like to thank everyone for creating such a wonderful, caring, and informative web site. I am scheduled for a TAH/BOS plus cervix on April 17th. The closer the time comes the harder I am at keeping the tension at bay. A year ago I found out that I was severely anemic (9) (but honestly didn't think my monthly cycle was extreme) meanwhile my red count just kept spiraling downward. The doctors spent months trying to find my bleeding.....sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, egd, only to find lots of small problems but no bleeding...and then hysteroscopy, uterine abalation, months of lupron shots only to have my periods become heavier and the decision made to remove everything. I did recieve a nice surpise this week. My husband works in another state (has 18 months to go) and they have given him dependent leave so that he will be here for one week prior to surgery and one week post-op. After that my care will depend on my baby son (19) who attends college locally. Therefore, I pray that everything goes well. Does anyone know about a cathater that is left in the incission that drips a novacaine like drug into the abdomen ? My doctor says that it will completly block the post-op pain. Thanks again for the great site and all of the helpful tips ! Lynne G.

welcome

Dear Lynne,
So glad you found us! I have to agree that this is just the best place to be...I spent a lot of time here prior to my surgery and it helped so much with the nerves, I can't even tell you!!

Good news about your husband being able to come home for the big event! Sounds to me like you were and are due for some GOOD luck!!

Keep reading, posting and talking everything over with your doctor.

PS I had a spinal which kept me pain free for a few hours until the numbness wore off. I think this sounds like an epidural, through which more local anesthetic can be administered after surgery...I am sure someone will see your post and respond about that.

My very best to you...
