Re: 3 days til surgery
Hi ssanders -
All of your emotions, fears, nerves, and anxieties are normal.
You should have been given a list of pre-op instructions from your doctor. This may include what meds you need to avoid which usually start about 2 weeks before surgery (e.g., asprin, ibuprofen, some herbs, some vitamin, etc.). You may also have a required diet the day or two before surgery. The instruction may also include a bowel prep (ONLY do this if you are told to do one). Regardless of what they are, you need to follow all of your doctor's instructions to the letter - it is for your health.
Beyond that, it helps to keep as busy as possible, and distract yourself with favorite DVDs and light reading. For prep for your recovery time, get meals in the freezer that you can just pop in the microwave. Get the pre-made frozen meals for lunches and get food for easy breakfasts. You will want to get loose fitting clothes, and prepare your recovery corner with blankets and pillows.
You should also treat yourself to something special that does not violate your doctor's orders.
Take a deep breath... you are almost there.
