Hello everyone,

I am Lisa Rene. I am scheduled for Tuesday. I am not sure why I am not nervous. Perhaps I attribute it to simply wanting to get things underway.

For me, I am scheduled to have an LAVH with BS keeping the O however due to an enlarged uterus there is not telling how I might wake up from surgery. I have been told that if there are complications and they can not complete the surgery originally planned, things will then be via abdominal.

Earlier tonight I enjoyed time out at a graduation party having good food and conversation. When it became dark, the lights were put on outside and the fireflies came out. It was so pretty and tranquil. I loved it.

I have gotten all of my supplies together. Sunday is getting things ready as Monday is my last day of work.
Perhaps the nerves will hit then.
Regardless my head is starting to spin. Anyone else....?

Hello!

My name is Jeanna. I am 42 and having the Da Vinci on Tuesday. I may or may not have my right ovary removed due to a large cyst.

My pain was up tonight and the anxiety seems to be increasing. I am definitely having cold feet as everyone reminds me of how much better I will feel afterwards. My boss told me that I have, "boarded the plane" and am just feeling the same anxiety as waiting for departure....

Hi I am Alison, I am 40 and I am having a total abdominal hysterectomy on Tuesday. I am supposed to be leaving the ovaries but I may consider having the left removed because of the poly cyst on them. I am trying to get my home ready for post surgery but dont seem to have enough time. And I still have to purchase my supplies. I will be doing my recover alone for the 6 weeks I am away from work. Are there any suggestions for what I should have in place yo avoid hurting my self and allowing my recovery to be complete as well speedy

Pre-Op Hysterectomy: Open House Chat Thread - Today May 22, 2016

Hi everyone, best of wishes for your upcoming surgery. I look forward to sharing this journey with you all.

My surgery is in 14 hours !!!!! Far out this has just got serious.

Hospital is 2.5hrs from home so hubby and I are spending the night at a nearby hotel as I'm due there at 6am.

I've left my 3 sons (5,7 & 8yo) at home with my mum (which is huge stress in itself).

I'm sorry I'm not up on all the abbreviations but I'm having a full hyster via lap (hopefully) - with the view of leaving ovaries but left one has huge cyst so that might go ?

I've struggled with endo since I got my periods - had horrible time time falling pregnant - had horrible pregnancies all with several pre term scares and deliveries.

Adenomysis has been causing a lot of pain and discomfort the past year so my quality of life has really gone down hill.

That all being said, I'm looking forward to being fully recovered in 6 weeks time and feeling all brand new and pain free.

I'm thankful for this forum it's been very informative and helpful in the lead up to tomorrow.

I'll try to pop back later tonight but seeing as I'm doing a bowel prep I might be otherwise engaged !

Cindy

Hi Lisa I'm having mine Tuesday too.. I am having TAH and think I have now decided to have my ovaries gone too they are my main source of pain. I have adeno endo and cysts on ovaries my last op should have been 30 mins turned into 5 hours so slightly nervous as not sure what they will have to deal with when they get in there. Will be thinking of you good luck.

Emzwood we could be twin. My surgery will excise endo which after the last surgery in 2006 is expected to be extensive. I'm also having a bowel resection as the surgeon saw a large endo mass but ran out of time to deal with it then. I've got a collirectral surgeon teaming up with the endo specialist tomorrow.

Good luck Tuesday.

Pre-Op Hysterectomy: Open House Chat Thread - Today May 22, 2016

Hi everyone!

I'm Sarah. 26 years old.
Happily married for 6 years, but no kids due to chronic illness.
I'm in Australia.

Having a hysterectomy due to adeno (no endo though) and extremely heavy bleeding each month. I have several chronic illnesses (Dysautonomia + Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome) and the loss of so much fluid and iron each month really makes my other conditions worse. I also have a genetic clotting disorder, so can't take any hormones.

Thankfully my ovaries seem fine, so planning to leave them in place. Taking out the uterus and cervix.

Surgery on Tuesday.
I'm feeling both excited to see how much my quality of life will improve, and also scared that the recovery time is going to be epic (because of my chronic illnesses, surgery usually messes me up for a long time).

Hoping for LAVH, but might end up having an abdominal one, depending on how they go once they get in there.

The waiting is so hard!!!

The closer it gets, the more emotional I feel about it, and the more I feel like going, "I change my mind!! Let's not do this!!"

But I keep reminding myself that this wasn't a quick decision. Hubby and I spent 6 months thinking, researching, discussing... we know this is the best option for my quality of life. And the specialist (who will also be doing the operation) is both lovely and highly respected in his field. I've been seeing him since 2011, and he knows my body.

I promised myself that, since I trust both the Dr, and the process that hubby and I went through in making the decision, I won't back out at the last minute. No matter how emotional I get, I'm sticking to my guns.
