Was anyone told to cut out coffee/caffeine before hysterectomy?

I'm scheduled for surgery next Wednesday. My dr didn't say anything about cutting it out, but my dad asked why I was still drinking coffee because the caffeine can thin blood. I plan to call the dr in the morning, but also wanted to hear from y'all.

I wasn't told not to drink it. However all surgeons are different, so,definitely call the surgeon.

My dr didnt tell me to cut anything out. Only to quit all my meds and supplaments the fri or sat before my surgery which was on a tuesday. Im not anemic so he wasnt worried. I just built up my blood and tried to eat healthy before. I cannot go without my cup of java so not having it in the hospital was difficult! I finally had my mom to go get me some on the
3rd day! It tasted soooo good! Im in my 3rd month now and recovery has been a good one. Still being careful as I know it will take at least a yr to fully heal. Best wishes to you. From a Tx hyst sis

I was told a clear liquid diet the day before surgery with a Bowel prep. My sheet said coffee with sugar ok, but no creamer. So essentially nothing that can make your bowels sluggish like dairy.

I was told no fish oil or ibuprofen for the days leading up to surgery. I'm not sure why the fish oil but I know ibuprofen can cause bleeding issues.

Btw butterfly, I did not have to do a bowel prep either. Was given the same instructions on no ibuprofen. If I needed a pain pill only tylenol. And nothing after midnight. I meant to mention that. Sounds like you are ready. Keep us posted.
